sherril
I am in dire need of an affordable convertable carseat for my little fat man. I want one that at least goes up to 80 lbs. It has to be able to face forward and backwards. I would LOVE to find one around 100. Most that I have found are around 150+ and thats just a bit steep for me. If anyone has seen any around for a decent price in stores or online please let me know. Thanks ~Sherri~
MandaJo111
This one is at biglots right now for $99 and you can also get it on Amazon for 89 + 10 shipping: http://www.amazon.com/Cosco-Alpha-Omega-Elite-Seat/dp/B000TZCCXY http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/e1/2/AAAAAjiSQ94AAAAAAOErcQ.jpg Product DescriptionThe Cosco Alpha Omega Elite 3-in-1 Car Seat follows in the footsteps of its predecessors by combining safety and luxury. It is a convertible car seat which includes a 5-point safety harness and comfortable fabric. A key feature on the Cosco car seat is its no rethread technology. Parents have struggled for years rethreading the harness on the car seat after adjusting the headrest. The no rethread technology makes catering to the larger child a lot easier. This Cosco convertible car seat also uses a push in harness adjustment lever to make adjustments quick and easy. The Cosco 3-in-1 Car Seat is very durable, will grow with your child, can accommodate a child to 100 lbs and is LATCH compatible -a very important feature. Fishboysmom
I was looking at this one on Amazon.com because they can stay in the 5 point harness up to 50 pounds. Most others are 40lbs. $96.51 for the blue and $99.99 for the tan.Free shipping. http://www.amazon.com/Evenflo-Titan-Elite-Convertible-Seat/dp/B000YZ629E/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1213131453&sr=1-30http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51D9ohKB2rL._AA280_.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41H6EcZj%2BNL._AA280_.jpg
irisbee
I assume that you're looking for something that has a five point harness until 80 pounds? The Cosco Alpha Omega that a PP linked to only harnesses until 40 lbs and then it's a booster. Not worth it in my opinion. I'm not familiar with the Titan but it seems a little better. I don't know of anything with a high weight limit in your price range. I'd check out car-seat.org and see what they suggest. There are a lot of carseat techs on the site that know everything about every carseat out there.
alimfp
Go to www.car-seat.org and ask them on the forums. I do not suggest the Cosco AOE's myself.
Azzycat
Albeebaby.com has some good prices on some convertible carseats. I've heard great things about this website. The Eddie Bauer car seats the list are rated up to 100 pounds. The cheapest color of that series was $99.99. The Fisher Price seat they sell is actually the same as a Britax but a different name. It doesn't go as high as the Britax ratings either but it's a very very good seat. And that one is on sale now, too. http://www.albeebaby.com/view-all-convertible-car-seats.html#top good luck! amberc
I second reading and posting on car-seat.org. If you need a convertible that rear faces and forward faces, I would suggest the Evenflo Triumph Advance LX Convertible Car Seat - Harbortownhttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/414b6oBGTqL._SL500_AA280_.jpg If you watch it closely, it often goes down to $112. It is similar to the Titan recommended above but will last much longer because it has higher harness slots. Avoid the 3-in-1 models because they are not good at serving 3 purposes - buy a good convertible now and then get a booster when time comes. My ds3 is just at the point where he has to start using the seat belt with the booster. I don't feel comfortable doing that yet. I would prefer to keep him in the 5 point harness as long as possible. He is tall for his age so this would probably be even better.
