tokanm
I know we have a prior post on Magic Jack but I wanted to warn my fellow GD'ers here. I ordered this product on 3/18/08...by 04/02/08 I have never received it:( I emailed them..well live on line chat and you could easily tell that English was not their first language, so they too outsource:no: Anyways they told me the unit was returned as undeliverable:confused: They had put the wrong address on the box. They said they would send me out another unit...once again never received. I tried to call them, no number is listed for this company!!! I email again and speak to someone who assures me that the orders are cancelled. OK finally no more MJ problems....WRONG!!! I check my bank balance online and they have debited my account almost $47 I tried to email them...they say they "cannot help me" even though we never, ever received the units....basically too bad for me. I had to go into my bank, file a fraud report (they also caused other things to bounce:no:) my bank is looking into it but "companies like these usually never even respond). The bank got a phone number for them and get this it is answering machine and it tells you to leave your info BUT too bad for me the mail box is full...so I am basically SOL, according to the bank. I will file with the BBB but I am not sure how else to get the word out on this company. Any advice suggestions:confused: I am livid as this will cost me over $120:gdparanoid:
tokanm
I just got and email from my bank. I had another charge they believe may be fradulent!!! They are now having my close my account and get a new debit/master card as they are afraid this may just get worse I cannot believe this...so basically my direct deposit check will go into a non existant account tomorrow...Arghhhh. Should I call the district attorney or somebody at the FCC:confused: If anybody can find a real name or phone number for Magic Jack, LLP please let me know and I will be "tearing them a new one"

MandaJo111
Oh no that is so horrible!! I am glad the bank is helping you out. IT sure sucks about your direct deposit though...is there anyway that the bank can hold it and direct it to the new account this one time? Otherwise its gonna be a hassle to get a check and all. Contact the BBB and file a complaint and ask them what else you can do as well. Good luck and please keep us updated. elena-- magic jack was a telephone place that had cheap rates and several members here decided to try out. Me, I will stick to Vonage. Ripn
Wow, that's a shame...yet another reason to use a Credit Card instead of a debit Card. Here's a Canadian site for Magic jack, you may want to try that #1.877.901.jack(5225)http://www.themagicjack.ca/and a blog about the devicehttp://goinglikesixty.com/2008/01/28/magic-jack-feed-back/

My sister had to do this when she had her taxes done last month. The lady that did her taxes had the wrong checking info to have her taxes direct deposited. (My sister and BIL had to close their acct and reopen another one because of fraudulent charges). She called the bank on the day her taxes were to be deposited, and they rerouted the deposit to her new acct. She has to do the same thing on the day that the stimulas tax rebate is supposed to be deposited too. One thing my sister said though, was she had to do it ON THE DAY OF THE DEPOSIT, before the bank had a chance to return the deposit because the acct was closed. Good luck, and thanks. I almost bought one of those MJs.

Sue-Z-Q
Did you happen to pay for the faster shipping?I've heard stories about people not receiving the unit when they paid extra for the faster shipping. When I ordered, I just used regular shipping and had no issues. You say in your OP that they debited your account $47.00 and this will end up costing you $120.00 how is that? Even if they charged you twice that wouldn't be $120.00. I recently had to close my Visa due to fraud. Although it was a real Visa and not a debit card...I have received all of my credits (and I'm still getting them) under the old number. I think they can receive money under that number for a while, just can disperse it. Hopefully for you that is the case. I'm sorry that you are having such issues with them. More importantly I hope that you get it worked out! Edited April 24, 2008 by Sue-Z-Q missed a few words

tokanm
Yes I got my job to cut me a paper check and stop the direct deposit for this week. The $120 is due to overdraft fees etc!! My bank is reversing them however but they cannot control what other banks may do If you try to call MJ (my bank got a number for them) it is an answering machine that cannot accept any new messages as it is full. No doubt it is people calling to complain about being ripped off!! To the PP I am glad that you have not had a problem, but from what I have read you are one of the fortunate few. The BBB is very familiar with them and has many complaints. My biggest gripe is I never even got the product...it is not even like I returned it:( It never arrived here as THEY keyed in the wrong address and it was deemed undeliverable!! IMHO still stay away from them...my bank doubts we will ever hear back from them and basically I will be stuck with fees. My bank did rescind their payment, so MJ will not get any money

My bank has never even heard back from them and itis not worth going after them legally for this amount of money. The bank says this is howthey probably get away with it...they are running just under the radar
stationchief
Thought I'd continue this discussion as the previous one was closed. My in-law got the magic jack as a replacement for a main home phone. Came in the mail just fine and hasn't had any problems with it since. She's been using it since and loves it. Sorry to hear about all the horror stories about it, but far as the product itself it's pretty decent and does save you a fortune in costs. guilliam
I saw the infomercial for this and considered trying it but decided to wait to see if they start selling them in stores with the 'as seen on tv' stuff.
