Teacher Appreciation Ideas

Recommended Posts

I know alot of the teachers in my son's pod are doing weight watchers -- I know that everyone enjoys sweets/treats but you may want to offer some fruit choices as well.

Idea #2 -- Starbuck used to have a large container with a spot that you could get a 'to-go' order. This would be a nice change to the standard coffee in the morning. Or -- you could get some speciality coffees and brew these at school -- it will also make the area smell good.

Idea #3 -- maybe have Panera cater lunch one afternoon and get the teacher's to place their order ahead of time so that they can choose what they like..

Our PTCO does little things for everyday of the week. We make sure they are small enough to fit in the teachers mailboxes. Things like highlighters, pens, pencils, post its, microwaveable popcorn, packets of hot chocolate, dry erase markers, chalk, key chains, etc.

a few ideas i remember from previous years:

not sure how old your child is but i remember students hosting a luncheon. the school/pta paid for the food to be catered but the kids set the tables, served, cleaned up.

if the staff is small enough, students can present mock awards to teachers.

personalized mugs

or, you can design/order personalized READ posters from ala (american library association.) (also a cool reward for kids. they'd become famous!)

gift certificates or goody bags of office supplies. we spend oodles of money on school supplies each year. you can find out at school what is in the supply closet (so what the teachers get for free at school) and what's not. things i loved: stickers, colored chalk/dry erase/overhead markers, colored paper, electric sharpeners, good hole punch machines.

there might also be a teacher supply store in town...though those are better for elementary school teachers who can use their cool things more often.

and, yes, gift certificates to food (someone mentioned panera), bookstores is always a nice treat.

Thank you all for your responses. We are doing a coffee kart/coffeecake on Mon, choc treats in the mailboxes on Tues, desserts in PM on Wed, soup/rolls on Thurs, and all teachers will receive a hand made container with various supplies (i.e., pencils, post-its, etc.) on Fri.

ok here is a question ... my son has a teacher and aid that is assigned to him 5 other aids in the class and three therapist what is something I can do that wont cost and arm and a leg.

My DD6 had so many teachers last year in preschool. I think there were 4 teachers, plus aides. So I stocked up on hand creams from Bath and Body Works and Victoria's Secret when

they had a good sale. I think I paid around $3 each. I know it's not the same as needed

supplies, but I couldn't afford spending more than $5 for 9 teachers. I had my DD make

cards for all of them, and I wrote a special personal message to them from her. They

really loved the cards.

At the end of the year, I made flower pens and stuck them in a pretty vase for 2 of her

teachers. They were a big hit. I think even if you do something small like a card and

a flower pen or pack of pretty post-it notes, then that would be appreciated.

If you can get other moms to go in with you, you can do something that costs more.

Personally, I like giving my own gifts.
