oneannm
I am looking for cheap phone service, where I can keep my current phone #.... Any out there? I am currently with Verizon, and can't believe how expensive they are (and $12 for taxes each month)... I hear about online phone service and it being very cheap, but have no clue how they work...... Thanks
KBsDarling
we ran from verizon as well...We are vonage now. I know that a few new places have started and some people recently mentioned leaving vonage but I for one have had no issues and was a HUGE change to go to 31$ call and talk all i want a month from the 75$ a month just for the privilege of having a verizon wire come into my house
Shiloh59
OMG have you all heard about the new phone service they have out? its called Magic Jack. It costs ...and yes you heard right....20.00 a year and comes with everything!!!! go to http://www.magicjacktv.com/8/index.asp and check it out. you cant keep your current number yet and the area codes are limited but you can pick one from another city and change it when yours becomes available. you have to buy the jack mine was 46.+++ and that includes the 1st year of phone service. voice mail, caller id, call waiting, unlimited long distance etc. can you believe this???? I dont think that link will work but its just magicjack.com.

Ripn
Do a google search for VOIP or voice over internet protocol, you will find many options that will beat the local phone/cable companies bundle offers. Of course, YMMV. I have a company called VOIP.com for my phone service, it was $199 for 1 year of service...no taxes, extras, nothing. Completely unlimited local and long distance. You do need a high speed internet connection though.
