Fishboysmom Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Do anyone else hate this? It seems like more and more places are making you add stuff to your cart if you want to see the price. Drives me nuts.

nat1jen Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 It makes me want to buy the item from another merchant.
spendthrift-y Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I don't care for this practice either. The purpose of it is (supposedly) to keep the price off the search engines. If the price isn't listed except in the card the search engine can't 'spider' down and find it. I still say it's annoying but it doesn't make me any more likely to buy something. I am perfectly happy to click the delete button or "update" the quantity back to 0.

adewrell Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 (edited) They do that because companies (Nintendo, iPod, etc) don't allow vendors (Best Buy, WalMart, etc) to advertise their items at prices below standard. The vendor can sell them at a loss, but they can't "advertise" that they are doing so. If the price says "Add to Cart to See Price", then they haven't advertised it. Does that make sense?
