naturegirl Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 i went to walmart last week and bought few toys from their clearance section. They did not even have 30% off on some of them, barely 15%. And the max was 35% that i saw, not even 50%. Unfortunately i bought a few toys anyway because my kids wanted a few things which i did not find in stock in other stores. I bought $11 toy for $7. My heart was aching becoz the broken dusty boxes of toys were barely worth a dollar or 2, but its hard to explain that to a 3 year old. I have even checked my target, i think they dont do that good either where bringing down clearance toys are concerned. I havent found the prices like i paid on amazon in any of the store. I had a galla time shopping amazon during their toy sale. I just wish I had acted fast enough on those deals and not have missed some of the deals since now i am paying so much more for those toys.
screamingviolet Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I was going to say the same thing when I saw the title. They are just stupid. I keep seeing more and more threads lately about walmart. I am surprised they have many customers anymore. A lot of towns only have Wal-Mart, we have no choice. That's how they stay in business.
JackJack Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I avoid Wal-Mart at all costs. I had ordered the Dora Dollhouse Set for $10.00 and have until tomorrow to pick it up. It's pretty sad when I don't even want to go in there to pick up a site to store shipment that saved me quite a bit of money. I used to love shopping at Wal-Mart when they first came to Tucson but they are just too trashy now. The majority of the clerks are rude, they play the most obnoxious, loudest music, you can never get through the aisles and if they are bringing out pallets, watch out! I actually had one almost take out my 4 year old daughter!!! If I hadn't pulled her out of the way, he would've run right into her. I was furious! I laughed when I read your comment about the pallets. I know exactly what you mean. They act crazy when they are wheeling those things out. It's like calm down....I'm sorry you are so excited to re-stock paper towel!! I actually had a guy at my local WM call me a stupid b@$#!:eek:last year because he felt like I was in his way. I didn't hear him, because he said it as he was kind of passing me, but my Mom was right behind me around the corner. So, I marched right back up to him and his fellow "stock" buddy and asked him if he had something he needed to say to me. They both turned a nice pale white color and said no.(Of course they were trying to be all cool and kind of laughing about it...) Until I started raising my voice and kept asking him if he needed to say something to me....and after about three or four times he finally said "sorry, I was out of line." But you know what, too many rude employees get away with crap and if they were confronted more often I think they would think twice about being so nasty. He looked like he wanted to crawl under the pallet....I just felt like I wanted to hit him with it!!
fluffkin79 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Went to a different wally-world tonight. They had little kid's sandals $4, reg $11.50. Not much in toys marked down enough to peak my interest (especially after Amazon and having first pick at Target). But there where a few surprises mixed in. I cruised the regular clearance aisles, then went to lawn and garden see what was left from christmas. Looked at the first christmas aisle, turned the corner, and found more toys! 2 1/2 more aisles of toys were hiding in L&G. A couple things tempted me, but I only took home 2 that were $1 each, reg $5 and ???. So, why do they keep their stuff? Because they can! What else are they going to do with Lawn and Garden for the next couple months?
mom-99 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I am a small town Walmart victim. Our mall wasn't much before and they raised the rent so much most of the better stores have left. We personally suffered because my husband worked commission at a music store in the mall. Walmart redid the leases for companies that didn't have a permanent one and they had a kiosk instead of a store for 6 months! Hard to make commission when there's nothing to sell. Their stuff is crap. It's the only game in town for toys except for Family Dollar or places like Big Lots. I get a few groceries there because I have to watch my pennies. When I can afford my principles I will never go there again. Since they are the only game in town I often wander down the road about an hour to get to a Target or other places we don't have. My mom likes to go to the Walmart there. The price difference is amazing, it's so much cheaper down where they have some competition. Ok, I'll stop!
cberrytech Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 A lot of towns only have Wal-Mart, we have no choice. That's how they stay in business.I see you are from Missouri, and that is exactly what I was thinking. There are only 3 Target's within an hour of me. One in my town and the other two are at least an hour away. But Wal-Mart? I have at least 12 within 30 minutes. I love Wal-Mart and do 90% of my shopping there. I have recently found many toys marked 50-80% off and cleaned up! As for Target, nothing ever gets marked down more than 30%, and then it sits, and sits, and sits. No further mark downs. I can go months without setting foot in a Target, and I never seem to have any withdrawal symptoms. Their associates are by far the rudest people I have ever met.
