DramaQueenLucy Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 DS15 really likes his ipod now I know that an ipod may not be doable but maybe a smaller mp3 player? Clothes is always a hit with teens. Do they have a list?
AndreaInNC Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Even though they are older, you can still request help from Toys For Tots. I know that Best Buy is teaming up with the Marine Corps for Toys for Teens. Here is their website regarding requesting toys for someone. http://toysfortots.org/request_toys/default.asp
AndreaInNC Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Have you thought about calling your church or their church? Or if possible have your office adopt them for Christmas.
wyntyrose Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 The Salvation Army has a gift program similar to toys for tots, the problem is many of these programs do not take late applications, yes applications for assistance are required. I would contact your local Salvation Army and see if they can help you.
Wishtdream Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Go talk to your local POLICE DEPT one of our local departments gets regular donations from the major chains in town last year they had many electronics and vidio games for the older kids through thier toy program.
ldybec72 Posted December 4, 2007 Author Posted December 4, 2007 THANKS so much for the ideas I will check everything out :)
trbarginhunter Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Check your local high school or middle school as well. I know ours are collecting donations, and they are collecting for older kids (teens and tweens). Our local library has a Santa Tree as well, but I don't know if it is for a specific organization.
leefamily23 Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I'd check w/ the school too- I know our's take's a list for each school level and tries to get help. Thing is it might be too late for help. Most organization's have their lists set by this time. So, if they cannot help I'd check w/ maybe your own, a close friend, or family members office. I know that my mom works in an office of 5- they all put in $30 and buy a few gifts for a local family that "someone might know needs help". I know quite a few people that do this. I know the 4 physician's I work for would donate alittle bit (maybe 200-300) if I told them of kids I knew that truly would get nothing else for xmas. Good luck- everyone deserves something.
Kandy Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 best buy has a teens program like toys for tots.
First Lady Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Our school have a few families and kids they have adopted, one of which is a 14 year old boy. You're gonna run into problems finding people who still have room and money to help these kids. You're best bet is to notify school officials/counselors and see if they still have funds left.
ldybec72 Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 thanks for the ideas. Still having problems. Everyone who has a program is full. I won't give up
kselzer Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Our local firehouses do a drive, perhaps try calling there?
AndreaInNC Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Do you work outside the home? If you do maybe your office could adopt them instead of giving gifts to each other.
