elena_398 Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 My husband is going to build my 10 yr old son a computer. My 10 yr old is saving up to buy each component of it with his own money. We are in need of a inexpensive Hard Drive. nothing big as he just wants it for basic stuff (games, homework etc). We can always add a bigger hard drive later. Need to find a deal on a 40 GB (internal) Hard Drive. Thanks for any help!

Brad Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Some options: http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=5T040H4-N&cat=HDDhttp://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=711006-017http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?DEPA=0&description=22-140-133http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=22-152-008http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=101284 At this price, you'll be fine with any of these, so you might just want to pick the cheapest.
i-bystander Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 At these prices, this would be a better deal. Maxtor 80GB 7200 RPM internal hard drive - $49.94 at Staples
Brad Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 or if you don't have a staples nearby (or they are OOS): http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=101318http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10339906
elena_398 Posted March 14, 2005 Author Posted March 14, 2005 I have a Staples about 20 minutes from me. I think I'll tell my husband to get the 80GB. Thanks everyone
aplefka Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 If you've got a Fry's near you you might want to look at their ad. They almost always have a Seagate 160 GB for 50 AR. You pay 108 upfront and then get a nice check for $50 about 6 weeks later. Worked out great for me and you can't get that much space for any cheaper. 40 GB hard drives aren't worth it because it costs more than a buck a gig. They also have the Seagate deal online I believe, but I think it's about 5 bucks more.
