Christmas Lights **Post your Pictures!!!

I saw the Christmas tree thread for posting pictures and thought there was one for Christmas lights, but I can't find it.

Here are our lights this year. This was the first time we put lights up. Thanks to Gottadeal and Target's clearance last year, we have a ton. We are hoping to get a bunch more for next year.

Pretty I like the pic of the whole house (the dark one) I like those swags and stars too. I think I'll pick up some stars for our windows too!

Mine are red/white candy cane striped. I bought red strands and white strands and sat down and alternated EACH and EVERY strand to go ALL THE WAY AROUND THE HOUSE! LOL

I don't wanna go in the cold to snap some pics maybe tomorrow....WE have the big blow up that has snow and the merrygoround that turns inside I LOVE it because it is SIMPLE and HUGE. We don't do a ton of lights just ones around the base of the house...

How do you add pics like that in full size? Everytime I have tried to add pics it does the thumbnails and they are screwed up looking when you click on them to see them. I will add pics of my lights later. I need to go return a couple things and see if I can do any more shopping. Gotta pick up stuff for my secret santa gift. :D

Do you use a hosting site? I'd recommend www.photobucket.com to load them. Mine always turn out fine. I usually resize them a little smaller than PP though...HTH

looks like your cat has electric eyes in the one pic....the deco looks pretty cool! :):)

Your house is very nice. Your cat is AWESOME! I was going to comment on those eyes in that one shot - totally freaky!

The first shot is without my night flash on. Pictures really don't do the yard & house justice. We have a real pretty garland around the front door and front rail, two nice entryway trees and a light pole that we bought at Dollar General this year. The yard is just a mishmash of retro and modern lights. I love the blowmold plastics so I have a line of those, some older light frames and then some new stuff like my trees and angel closer to the house. You can't really see the angel but she is really pretty in person as well. The icicles on the garage overhang are cool - they are shaped like snowflakes and every 5th bulb flickers. I have chasers around the garage doors and c9's along the gutter of the house. I will put up some lights around the front windows and a wreath between the upper windows to finish off. We love decorating the house and we have already had lots of cars come and slow down in front of the house :)

The lights look soo pretty! I would love to put up lights outside, but with the wind storms we can have and the 3 blizzards last year:cheesy:. I'm a little nervous about putting anything out.

I have those too and I love them. But aren't they a pain in the butt to get untangled? They snag on everything.

YEP absolutely and the plastic snowflakes would come off when I was trying to untangle, LOL. But I do LOVE them now that they are up :) I am going to have to be careful when I take them down and figure out a way to store them without having a big mess to untangle next year.

I tried to take pics of my house last night and they all turn out blurry. Does anyone know what I should have my camers set on for them to turn out?

My pics would be blurry when I had the night setting on but I found that if you take a pic and then take another real quick usually the 2nd wouldn't be quite so blurry. If you take the pictures on the regular mode it will be darker but the pictures shouldn't be blurry. The night setting is definitely brighter but much trickier.

The reason they are probably blurring is because of movement. In order to take a picture in the darker lighting conditions, the lens needs to stay open longer. The longer the lens is open, the less forgiving it is to even the tiniest movement. What I might suggest is to get something to set your camera on or to steady your arms on and then very carefully take the photo. This should help. What kind of camera do you have? What kind of settings are available to you? If there is a night landscape feature, that might work. The best is probably going to be no flash with the camera stabilized on a tripod or some other makeshift way.

It is a Kodak 8MP. It has alot of features including the night landscape. I guess I will just have to play around with it a little more. Thanks.

The houses look great! It has rained nonstop here and we didn't have ours up yet. But when I got home from work yesterday, DH surprised me by having everything up! I'll have to take a picture tonight.

We are only halfway done. Finally got time to do lights today. We will finish next weekend because we need to buy another 24 boxes to finish and find some redlights. We need to do some more in the bed on the right side of the house. Then we only have one of the beds in the yard done and there is another one that is larger. Plus our two big trees we want to wrap the trunks in red and white lights, and get a new wreath for the door. I got rid of a lot of our old stuff when we moved. We are also thinking about buying some large yard decoration. DH wants one of the blower ones and I want a lighted one ... we are debating lol. I was so dissapointed because we got our boxes of icicle lights out that I bought on clearance at K mart and none of them had whole strands that work. :( We have never used them but I bought them a year ago so money down the drain. It looks a lot better in person. It just didn't take good pictures.
