Marcster Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I was inspired by Big Jim's article on CNBC to finally go ahead and get around to uploading my 2005 interview with NBC-10. Here is a link to the original thread: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=21028 I ripped this from VHS tape a while ago, but never got around to uploading it. I had thought that I would need to deal with optimizing it for online viewing, but recently learned that YouTube takes care of all of that... So, without further ado, here I am: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9rQpnE7L_4 http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Tasks/TV099.gif It was recorded at NBC-10 Studios on 11/11/05, but didn't air until 11/22/05. I tried to sling for GottaDeal as much as I could but they only used a fraction of what was recorded. In hindsight, it was kinda funny that it took longer to drive there and back than I actually spend there (about 1/2 hour at the studio). Tracy Davidson was really nice in person and it was a thrill to both represent GottaDeal and to meet someone you see on TV on a regular basis. And it goes without saying, but the specific prices mentioned are from 2005, not the current ads...
i-bystander Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 This one's a classic, Marc - belongs to the GD archive.
stationchief Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 At least you got your few seconds of fame. Very nice!
Brad Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 And please, no making fun of Marcster's awful shirt
happysunshine28 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Glad you posted this I had no idea you did an interview back then.
stationchief Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 And please, no making fun of Marcster's awful shirt From one geek to another, I actually like that stripe shirt. I would've thought you'd want to debut the newly developed gottadeal.com t-shirt, but excellent choice for a TV interview nonetheless.

I would've thought you'd want to debut the newly developed gottadeal.com t-shirt, but excellent choice for a TV interview nonetheless. We actually were trying to get a shirt to him. We had a sample GD golf shirt that we sent but it wasn't the right size. I don't think the t-shirts were out yet at that point.

Thanks, I wanted to be dressed "business casual" -- dressy enough to look like I cared, but not too dressy. We actually were trying to get a shirt to him. I did mail it off to a GD member so someone's husband is wearing it and "represenentin'"! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Slang/boo-yah.gif
setlok73 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Glad you posted this I had no idea you did an interview back then.LOL...."back then"...hehehe...was 2005 that long ago?
Marcster Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 LOL...."back then"...hehehe...was 2005 that long ago?My hair wasn't as gray then as it is now. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Male/old.gif
hwolf6330 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Thanks, I wanted to be dressed "business casual" -- dressy enough to look like I cared, but not too dressy.Well, I think you looked nice. There is no way I could do what you did though. I would be too nervous.
Marcster Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 Well, I think you looked nice. There is no way I could do what you did though. I would be too nervous.Oh, I was fully prepped. Brad and I exchanged many PMs and Ross and I talked over the phone extensively including a call from the parking lot of NBC10 moments before I walked in.
dmmiller Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Thats pretty cool.. And you looked so professional.
Marcster Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 Thanks for all the positive feedback, guys. If I had looked into how to upload videos to YouTube sooner, I could've posted this a long time ago.
jeninpa Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 LOL! Love it Marc! I would never be able to do that on TV, although I find myself constantly tellling everyone about gottadeal.com. What I really need is some business cards! lmao I'll tell people and they'll repeat it a few times trying to memorize it but probably by the time they get home they forget. Although DS's Dr. did write it down the other day, lmao.
Scott Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 They never ask me to do interviews... ... I wonder why? :)
Marcster Posted November 21, 2007 Author Posted November 21, 2007 They never ask me to do interviews... ... I wonder why? :)LOL! NBC10 specifically wanted someone local so they could do the interview in the studio. But, hey, if you were willing to drive to Philly, you should've told Brad.
Steakgoddess Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Ahh, classic! That will forever go down in Gottadeal history. You rock, Marc!

Gurnee Al Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Ha! I hadn't seen that before. Great job!!
Brad Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 They never ask me to do interviews... ... I wonder why? :)The CBS Evening News called today wanting me to go somewhere to shoot an interview. But there was no way I could leave for that long of a time. Plus the story wasn't supposed to run until Friday night - what good is that? lol
pumkinmomof2 Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Thanks for sharing. Very nice interview! How'd you get picked for that ?
masilke Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 We actually were trying to get a shirt to him. We had a sample GD golf shirt that we sent but it wasn't the right size.
