I am somewhat confused!!! I want to buy a PS3 game system for my grandsons for Xmas - they already have PS2 - Can anyone tell me whether or not PS2 games will work with either the 80 0r 40GB PS3 system. If I do buy a PS3 game system what accessories will be necessary?

I believe the 60 gb or the 80 gb have the ability to play the ps2 games but not the 40 gb.

As far as accessories it only comes with ONE remote so another one would be nice and maybe a game or two.

 

My son is asking for the guitar control and the steering wheel set but they are not necessary.

Now I was told yesterday that the 40 and 60 would play ps2 but the 80 would not. I do not know what is right in this regard.

I only think certain PS2 games may play on the PS3, not the entire library.

you really shouldn't worry so much about the backwards compatability since they still have a perfectly functioning PS2 I would worry more about what is in your budget since the PS3 is soo darn expensive but personally I would not go for the 40gb version due to it being soo stripped down
