you really shouldn't worry so much about the backwards compatability since they still have a perfectly functioning PS2 I would worry more about what is in your budget since the PS3 is soo darn expensive but personally I would not go for the 40gb version due to it being soo stripped down

do not buy your kids a nano the screen breaks way too easily there's a lawsuit against apple for the defective screen I would just go with a cheap mp3 player like a RIO
