kren
Gotta get tires before snow Friday. The steel is showing on the front two, I was told by mechanic doing oil change today. Anyone know of any current in-store deals at the big nationals like Sears, etc? Trying to get this done on my one day off this week, and doubt I'll have time to do heavy-duty comparison shopping. Thanks!
Ripn
Sears has a great tire sale on Black friday if you can wait. Rotate the tires(if you have front wheel drive) to get to BF.
Marcster
If you belong to a price club (Sam's Club, BJs, or Costco) they tend to have the best prices on good, name-brand tires. Heck, you don't even have to belong. I go in with my FIL to get tires for their Subaru, so you just have to know someone who is a member and willing to go into the store with you. kselzer
Sam's Club is the best place I have found to buy tires.
Azzycat
If you have a discount tire store nearby, they are usually cheaper than Sears and my Sears will price match them. Go to www.tires.com to see if you have stores nearby, and how much your tires will be. Print the page out and bring it to Sears and if they have the same model in stock they will price match. Wish we had snow. It was 95 here yesterday silly desert ...
DaveL
I have gotten great tires and service at my local Firestone store. They usually beat or will match the prices for bridgestone/firestone tires at Sams and the like.
bugsette
Yes, I would try Sam's... or look on line
aallred1138
Any tire at any price is better than a tire with steel showing. Buy used if the money is tight. Thats very close to flat, blowout or seperation and at highway speed = wreck = expensive.
conj
I've heard terrible things about sears auto service center.... Sams or Costco... maybe not the cheapest, but the best warranty, and they back their work.
kren
Thanks everyone -- went to Sears where their best deal -- buy 3 get 1 free on a lesser-known brand - and it would've cost me $650. I ended up buying two instead of 4 at a local store and paid $211. Couldn't afford anything better than that.

kren
Nope, regular plain vanilla SUV tires. 225-r17 (?)... they're for a Hyundai Santa Fe. Sears has great come-on advs for tires, but they're always for, like, the spare tire donut. If you want a real-sized tire, they seem to start at $150 and up... DaveL
Tires have gotten very expensive recently.
rcourtn1
We have a big SUV. The tires just cost about $400 at Super Walmart Tire Center. The technicians didn't know how to remove the spare and killed our battery but at least we got the best price LOL
kren
Now I don't feel so bad -- the $211 I paid for two is about what you paid per-tire at Wal-Mart for four? Did I read that correctly? If so, I'm pleased. I don't shop at Wal-Mart and supported a local guy who gave me a very competitive price!
rcourtn1
Actually we got 4 Goodyears. They seem good so far. With all the installation trouble we had I hope they are safely installed and are good enough quality. I guess sometimes paying more and not worrying is a better approach.
