So, I click the Sony 5.1 Home Theater system with 5-dvd changer/CD player priced 200 bux's on BF and it leads to online buy at 309.99. Next ?, is they also have a Sony 5.1 system but reciever only. So am guessing that I have to buy the speakers apart. Any help appreciated.

I am not 100% sure exactly what you need help with. I have put them all together to possibly help you. But do note, these are different receivers'. The second one does not do Dvd/Cd's. The wattage is different and more I am sure. So are the speakers. Does this help you?

Buy the speakers seperate!

You will get much better sound and it is easier to upgrade later.

I spent over $2k on my receiver but if I knew what I knew now I would have waited a year for the same components to become available in a $600 unit. Overall without the TV I think I have around$7k invested in home theater. By waiting a year I could have saved EASY $2k, and $4k was on speakers which dont go down like stereo components do!

If I was you I would pay the extra $100 and get the Harmon Kardon.

That is on sale for BF Not sure alot of people know this but Alot of systems have

watt ratings that are False Like Sony claims those receivers are like 1000 watts there is no way. The Harmon Kardons are rated with true wattage so a 600watt one is like a 1200 watt sony in most cases.
