mommystiber Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I heard a RUMOR that walmart was going to open all their stores at midnight this year. Has anyone heard this or is it confirmed yet? I know they like to be the first open and our local Mervyns has already posted a 4 am opening time for BF. (In So. California)
elena_398 Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 My walmart is 24 hours and only closes for a few hours on christmas. Heck Im usually in Walmart by midnight
chefswife Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 This whole thing seems to get earlier and earlier every year. I may have to have a Thanksgiving Breakfast this year instead on a dinner. I don't know about you guys but I need some time tio sleep off that turkey.
Ericksonr Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 I definitely like to sleep off my Turkey too especially since I am usually up around 3 AM to beign cooking. My husband likes to have his first batch of Thanksgiving dinner around 11 or 12. I go to sleep early and then I am up by 2:30 or 3 for the sales. Not sure what my gameplan this year. Guess it depends on what WM has up their sleeves.
BoxerLoverInOhio Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 It's my understanding that SWM's are 24hrs and only close on Christmas Eve through about 6am or so the day after Christmas. Regular Walmart's, whether they be 24hrs or not, are the ones that close on certain holidays. Every single one of our SWM's in the area are only closed on Christmas. While every single one of the regular WM's, close on Easter, Thanksgiving etc.
8truths Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 I'd kill for midnight opening. It's easier to stay up until midnight than it is to wake up at 3am and drag out.
jlee745 Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 My walmart is opened 24/7 but we arrive at Walmart around 4 and they have the stuff in center isles scattered everywhere. You have to kind ask around and see if they know where your item is at. When you find it you try to get as close to it as possible and become buddies w/ the person that may be closer than you so they will hand one off to you at 5 am Walmart employees are guarding the items.
mommystiber Posted November 10, 2007 Author Posted November 10, 2007 Ours is open 24 hours too, but closes on Thanksgiving eve if that is what you want to call it. But usually open at 5 am on BF. But I heard a rumor that they were going to beat everyones openings to try to get the biggest crown at midnight.
hinman Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 My Wal-Mart is open 24 hours. The only time they close is Christmas eve and reopen the day after Christmas.

Regular WM's follow a more regular holiday shutdown schedule. We live a few miles from SWM & never have to stand outside & freeze, We usually get in the store & scope out where everything is located &make our plan. my wife, my brother, his wife & me. We always get everything we want at WM. Last year we were out of there by 515 & I was in line across the street @ HD & got the 32" HDTV.
