davephillyj Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I have seen several different kinds and many prices. I have NO IDEA what the difference is. We have DSL through an ethernet connection. What in the world do I need.... I went to buy.com and there were SO MANY. Help!
mrn8 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 If you want to use Buy.com, go with the Linksys WRT54G. It's a solid and reliable router. I've got some still running that are 3 years old, whereas I've never had a Netgear or Belkin last more than 9 months. http://www.buy.com/prod/linksys-wireless-g-broadband-router-wrt54g/q/loc/101/10336386.html If you are willing to buy elsewhere, I'd recommend a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54. They have great range and run reliably. You can also load a 3rd party firmware on it (takes a little work, but it's not that hard) to really open up it's capabilities. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833162134
Marcster Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 D-Link & Netgear = complete junk. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Angry/thsmashcomputer.gif Go with Linksys. I've heard that Buffalo are just as good as Linksys but are more complicated to set up. So either Linksys or Buffalo.
poppy Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I am also looking for a good deal on a Wireless Router. Tried D-Link which was a mistake. Could not get it set up. when I opened the boxes should have been a red flag thrown up when it had a note if you have difficulty setting this up please contact. D-Link. I want one that is simple to set up. any suggestions. thanks
