msdarkness Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 What type of Christmas parties do you give or attend? I started a cookie/ornament exchange last year and I plan on doing it again this year. Cant wait
starbasset Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 My Supper Club started with a Cookie Exchange - it was great fun! Everyone selected a cookie to make from scratch then we made up recipe cards for each person then shared few at a special Holiday Supper Club... afterwards we each had a nice batch to take home. My family like to do $1 - $5 gift exchange which we usually have on Christmas Eve. It's a blast!...we spend hours laughing and "stealing" each other's gifts and enjoy the holidays with little expense. Often many of us buy extra gifts and everyone winds up with a few gifts by the end of the evening. I am waiting for the day when one of the many instant scratch-off or lotto tickets turn out to be thee ticket - what a Christmas that will be!

dmmiller Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 I've been wanting to do a cookie exchange with the neighbors around me. Everyone here hates to bake Lots and lots of different cookies, so that is just a great idea to get lots of different ones, w/o the hassle and mess. :)

Kaarak Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 My mom hosts a cookie swap. We host an open house both for our friends, and the a seperate one for my boyfriends staff.
jarerice Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 we go to my mother in laws and have a great party. we have a dinner party at my dh's papas house and we might to something this year at my house.
nedsw33 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 we'll usually go to a 'White Elephant' party, where everyone brings a gift that's not a good gift. You usually find something around the house, in the basement, that you don't want anymore and wrap that up. It can be pretty funny seeing what some people come up with. Got an old breadmaker a couple years back...
e-stella Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 A cookie/ornament party sounds like lots of fun! When do you have them? On Christmas day, a week before? I'd like to do this with my friends and family.
CocoaDiva43 Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Dh job has a party each year at his job..in our community we have party where each family bring a gift for a need child, we donation all the gifts to a chuch or fire department.:)
msdarkness Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 I usually have them the first or second week of Dec..I usually ask my family what weeks are best for them and send out invitations around the week before thanksgiving
Turtle Mommy Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Last year I went to my first cookie swap. I had a blast! I hope the girl does it again this year.
mccabefamily29 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 The cookie swap sounds like allot of fun...wish I knew more people who loved to bake.
amos311 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I love the cookie swap idea, too! I bake a TON over Christmas, in fact, I have already started freezing dough. Too bad shipping is so much or else we would have a mail cookie swap.
