There are so many great toys out there. It really depends on what he likes. Personally I would think trucks, a ride on like the little tykes coupe or a power wheels quad, a fisher price basketball goal, train table (if there is room) mega blocks, a wagon, little peoples garage,Liitle touch leap pad, Fisher price Red roarin fire truck, one of those rugs that looks like a road and some smaller cars (he may be a little young for that one)

To get ideas for my dd4 I took her to TRU and let her look and play for a couple of hours. I am sure many on here have boys and can help you more my boys are are all grown up now, and no grandbabies yet.

Legos! Lego Table! My dd was 3 last Christmas and she is still playing with her blocks from Christmas. All different shapes, themes, colors and sizes. She also loves her color wonders items. They have the marker ones and finger paint ones and oh the aqua doodles she loves them too. I just LOVE the no mess stuff that Crayola and Aquadoodle have.

It depends on what he's into...I have two boys, one 3 1/2, and the other about to turn 2 in two weeks, and they are polar opposites when it comes to what they like! My oldest loves ANYTHING, he is a toy nut, and can find something to do with anything he's given, even if it's only a piece of a toy! My youngest, on the other hand, is very easily distracted, and there is not much that holds his interest for any length of time. He LOVES animals, so we are doing a farm animal theme for his birthday, but as far as gifts, we are totally at a loss! He will get a tricycle, since his brother has a bike, too, but for Christmas, we will be stuck. He likes trucks, and LOVES ride-on toys, so that would be my suggestion. He's forever riding a little Nemo ride-on that his brother got for his second birthday. He likes pushing trucks around on the floor, too, so he will probably be getting some trucks/cars for Christmas...oh, he likes trains, too, so we may add to the boys' Thomas the Tank collection.

My boys (they were 2 and 1/2 last Christmas) got a kitchen for Christmas last year and still love it. Something they've had for awhile, but still play with a lot if little vacuum cleaners.

A small workbench with lots of tools is fun too.
