PlayStation 3 price drop???

I have head rumors of the PS3 having a price drop I was going to pick one up soon because I don't want to going nuts at Christmas time looking for one. Does anyone know about this??

I havent heard anything. It's probably unlikely, look at the Xbox 360, there have been rumors of a price drop almost since launch over 2 years ago and it is still the same price.

16yo ds says he read somewhere that it has dropped $50 in Japan and will soon drop $50 here. But didn't say when:(

I heard they are planning to drop the price, but it has only been out for a little while so don't get your hopes up. They usually sell on ebay for significantly cheaper than in a retail store though so you may want to keep that option open.

Probably no price drop for a while! Sony will add free games and stuff first. If buying now there is a promo for 5 free blue ray movies with purchase of any blue ray player, ps3 included.

well I stand corrected, the word on the street is there will be an official SONY price drop around July 12th of $100 off the 60GB version at $499 and they will be introducing an 80GB version with a free copy of Motorstorm for $599. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/47826
