Should I stick with that.DVD -R's tend to be more compatible with stand alone dvd players. I've never had an issue switching back and forth with my dvd players. Definitely check out the guide Ripn linked to: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm I too would like to know what the media code is. mam627
The DVD-R in the op are 16X. I have seen some that are 8X but they are more expensive. What is the difference?
Ripn
The DVD-R in the op are 16X. I have seen some that are 8X but they are more expensive. What is the difference?you can burn twice as fast...8X2=16 Actually, 16X is the most popular speed of dvd media currently...although there are 18X burners out there now. BUT, you have to have at least a 16X burner to burn @ 16X. There really is no need to burn so fast, because when you consider what you are archiving to dvd, do you really need to save the 3 minutes difference of 8X vs. 16X...if it's even that much. In the case of burning dvds, SPEED KILLS!
