Any package deals to Las Vegas?

I just saw show on Las Vegas and the things they have other than the casinos. It is

actually 2nd in family friendly vacations now after Disney according to them.

I was thinking of Mid-March perhaps, flying from Boston or Providence. I don't need a

fancy hotel (just clean and secure). Also where would I get coupons for attractions and

events in Las Vegas? What is the gambling age, is it 18 or 21?

Has anybody been there and can you give us any suggestions?

I went last year for my mother's wedding.

Gambling age is 21, it sucked for me since I was 19. If you have members of your party who are under 21 they aren't allowed to be any where on the gambling floor. If security catches you on the floor a couple of times they start to get pretty angry. It's understandable, just not very fun.

 

It's amazing how little you can leave the hotel. We were there for 3 days and we didn't leave the hotel once. The air is so dry (compared the Florida) we could barely breathe outside, let alone walk anywhere. They have dinner and shows in every hotel to try to keep people to stay there.

 

If you start to sign up on the websites for emails to these places you can get all sorts of deals. I'm going for my 21st bday in May, so I get emails all the time about it. If you wait and watch, you can usually get an awesome hotel with free meals for under $100 a night if you go on the week days. I'd stick with hotel names you've heard of or you've heard of the company that owns them. Driving in, we saw plenty of ugly very unsafe hotels that looked very cheap. I also refer people to the Mirage because they own atleast 10 different hotels out there. Just look at the bottom of their webpage to see all the others.

 

Attrations are pretty easy to. Like I said, most hotels have their own shows and a lot of them are free so you can just hit up as many of those as you like. There's also the roller coaster at the Stratosphere. If you just call up what ever hotel you're interested in and let them know the age groups of your children, they will be able to help. My aunt took her 7 year and there was never a moment the two of them were bored.

I'd recommend staying at Circus Circus if you are bringing young kids kids. They have circus-style shows free several times a day and a Krispy Kreme stand where donuts are made fresh on-site. It's a reasonably priced casino on The Strip. http://www.circuscircus.com

I went to Vegas in June 2005 with hubbie and 2 girls. We stayed at the Flamingo and all loved it. It has wonderful pools, free habitat outside (flamingos and penguins, birds, etc.). This hotel is right in the middle of the strip so the girls weren't too tired to walk to the hotels. It was clean and I felt safe even at night going in and out. If you search on the internet there are sites that tell you want is free in Vegas.

For example, MGM has a lion habitat, free in the lobby. Bellagio has dancing fountains to music, can't miss that! We spent four days there and nobody was bored. The kids would have stayed in the pool all day. They rode the monorail and loved all the buffets too. Coupon books are cheap to buy on ebay for vegas attractions and shows but LOTS of stuff free. You will love it. This July going back with just hubbie so we can gamble and see some shows, can't wait.

Another vote for the Flamingo. Nice hotel, great location and very reasonable pricing. I hate Circus-Circus. Always very crowded and tons of little kids running under your feet. I would not consider LV very family-friendly. The strip is built on gambling, drinking and adult shows. If you must take small kids, then stay at Circus-Circus (as Marcster said). LV is probably very little fun for mid to late teens -- can't gamble, can't drink, too old for Circus-Circus. They would enjoy many of the non-adult shows, though.

I would agree with Gurnee Al. I remember seeing TV shows a few years ago that Vegas was becoming a big family destination... But in my experience, it really isn't. They really seem to be getting back to the "old Vegas", gambling, free drinks (when you're gambling), big glitzy shows, etc.

 

The basic problem with making Vegas family friendly is that families don't gamble. They need to attract singles and couples over 21, not people with little ones in tow.
