Hollisters? Abercrombie?

i consider myself to be pretty liberal, but i accompanied a friend to Abercrombie the other day to shop for her dd9, and i was shocked at some of the clothes they sell for little girls. i have a dd3 and some of the smaller clothes would fit her. now come on. and they had these extreme short-shorts that would even make Daisy Duke blush for the preteen and younger set. i think we'll continue being Gap patrons.

They are waaay over priced for me too. I had to take my dd14 to shop for polos that she had to have for high school, we walked into Abercrombie and thier polos were $40-$80. Needless to say, we walked right back out. My mother offered to buy her some clothes too and I wouldn't even let her pay that much for a polo. We went over to AE and Old Navy.

They are overpriced, but have great sales. Got some polos there before Christmas for $12. and $9. My dds shop at both. My daughter got a coat at Abercrombie on Christmas Eve that she had been looking at for $99 marked down from $199. She was thrilled. I was too considering it was HER money.

My kids LOVE both of those stores. They are 13 and 18. We shop very carefully and spluge occasionally. MY 13 yr old is thin and has been wearing 2 pairs form A&F for 2 years. She shops at the store for kids because they carry slim. Of course my 18 yr old works and love both, especially the jeans. Just got great after Christmas deals with their giftcards. I saw those extreme short shorts(can't wear to school), so why buy? Anyway, we went from Gap, to LTD2 to Aero as they matured. Check the websites. These stores are definitely expensive, but my kids are happy there. I buy my clothes at WM-lol!!!!!

Thanks everyone. I typically let her shop in these stores, but we head straight for the clearance section. She has been asking for these, since they hit the racks. I took her to both stores the day after Christmas, thinking they would have drastic markdowns. She did find some bargains with her Christmas $$$, but I refused to let her buy these. I will keep watching. But if anyone knows, when they will go to the next markdown, please post.

FYI=Abercrombie owns Hollister, the latter is def. cheaper, but have you noticed how similar the two are? Although, Hollister is louder and darker that A&F-lol

Just an FYI. seems that age group also likes Wet Seal. I just bought 3 shirts for $10.00. They had a great sale on shirts and sweaters, they were 3/$10.00 or 3/$15.00. They also had some pants marked down to $5.99 and $7.99. Seems the warm winter has made for some good sales......

Both of my girls shop at aero(15 & 19) but I have taught them to head straight for the clearance racks. Shopping later in the season saves quite a bit and if they wait and shop at the end of the season, they clean up. My older dd is real good at finding jeans for $9.xx and shirts for $2.xx.

Don't forget to sign up for Ae All Access Pass. Use each time you shop, and the more you spend, the bigger the quarterly discount coupon.. My next one will be 40% off-just in time for Spring clothes.

My daughter and I both shop at Hollister and A&F. We only buy when things are on clearance. I know that A&F used to have sales where you could take an extra 50% off clearance but I haven't seen those signs in about a year. Their outlet stores are great too. I got a couple pairs of jeans at the Hollister outlet for 9.99 and an embroidered sweater at the A&F outlet for 12.00. I wish I lived closer to the outlets. I would shop there a lot more often.

These are the only brands my DD 15 wears. AE,A&F, Hollister and Aero. We shop all year and off season to get the best deals. I also use a lady on Ebay quite often for A&F. She is overseas shipping is a little high but cost is low. Got DD a hoodie for xmas from her for 27 and the tags said 79.50!! I think a great deal.

I think I've mentioned this before; I time stamp all my jeans I buy. While the Hollister & AF Jeans are more expensive, they last considerably longer than the Union Bay, Old Navy and even American Eagle jeans that I own. Comparing to some AE jeans I bought about 4 years ago, which are now basically trash, my Abercrombie jeans still look nearly brand new. Not only that, but they do fit much better than most other brands. Though I do have to admit, my Paper Denim & Cloth jeans & my True Religion jeans easily stomp Abercrombie in terms of how they fit.

The term, you get what you pay for, does actually apply. The clothes at AF & Hollister are on the pricey side, but they do last longer and look better.

I buy most of my dd clothes at Abercrombie and Hollister. They really have some great markdowns. We got shirts marked down to 4.97 at Hollister and Abercrombie a couple months ago. Their jeans are wonderful. They last forever and they really fit her great. After she outgrows them I turn around and sell them on Ebay and sometimes sell them for more than I paid if I get them when they are marked down.
