amberleigh2 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 This is my first year that I have'nt worked after christmas & I"m pondering on the thought of taking all the trees & decorations down, I usually wait til New years day but I'm so bored I'm thinkin I could get it all down & clean the house real good!! I hate to see it go:( , it's kinda depressing taking it all down coz this is my favorite time of year but then again the house sure could use a good deep cleaning after all the holiday guests!! So when do you all plan on doing it??
bayhaysay Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 I PLAN on doing it in the next couple of days. I just hope it gets done before school starts back up.
Swampbaby Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Usually ours stays up until at least the new year, however this year it's coming down Friday night or Saturday. Our DS and myself will be gone all the next week and simply don't wish to face taking everything down on the 8th when DS goes back to school. Plus, I'm sure DH would appreciate things back to normal. :)
candlesbytammy1 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 I would personally that mine down around new years, however my hubby's family always took it down the day after Christmas. So, I am in the middle of taking decorations, etc.. down now. Just felt like taking a break and now I am here.
Tracy72 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 I just got done taking my stuff down...I have always taken my tree down day after Christmas...I dont like my tree up with out gifts under it.
First Lady Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Not sure this year. Usually we take it down the first weekend in January, but we are leaving that weekend and won't be home for a week. So if we don't take it down before then it won't be until the 15th or so. I do kinda want it down, because my son's b-day is the 31st, but yet every year we've had it still up. Maybe I'll ask him if he wants the Chrstmas stuff still up for his b-day or not.
ms_mckenna Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 January 2nd or the 1st late but that rarely happens.
lovebears65 Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 As long as it is done before New years day I am happy. I am planning taking it done on Thurs since that is my Fri at work so all day fri I will put it away and get my house in order
tokanm Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Done...all put away until next year. The living room is back to normal and I could vacuum the whole area. However the bedrooms and the kitchen could really use work:eek:
Sunshyne Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Usually, I wait until January 6th. But, the kids are going to my mom's on Thursday until Monday, so I think I will just do it then so I can pack everything carefully and not have to listen to my oldest ds be sad about the tree going away. Too bad the township won't start picking the trees up until the 8th.
ace25baker Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 We usually take ours down on New years day but, our needles are starting to fall off the tree early this year. so it may come down earlier than that.
Melissa Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 We took everything (except the outside lights) down today. Everything looks so bare!!
dmmiller Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I started the task today... But probably gonna tackle it tomorrow while DH and kids are home. (they can help) DH wanted to take it down right after we opened presents yesterday.. I just looked at him. (I think he was joking?)
DramaQueenLucy Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 It is gonna get packed up this weekend I can't wait to have my house back in order
CG480 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 We are having my husband family Jan 6th for Christmas and my DD is comming home so the tree will stay until then. Might stay up until my DD goes back ro Ark. Which will be Jan 10. I hate to see it go down.
Illinoismom Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Geez I just got everything up and now it's gotta come down
Betsy Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 We just got done putting everything away. We took the tree down last night after everyone left, today was trash pick up.
ashley1013 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 We wait until after the 1st week in Jan. due to 3 Kings Day.
laffnatu Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I took mine down at 5pm yesterday. I was ready to have my living room back to normal.
elena_398 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 My husband took down EVERYTHING today. My living room looks so big now. lol
sherril Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 We took the tree down yesterday I wanted to get all dd's toys cleaned up and out of teh middle of my floor
Shortness Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Usually after the New Year, but last year it went down earlier. We're heading home today, so we'll see... Lots of unloading, laundry, and organizing the house first.
Gator Pam Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 We wait until after the 1st week in Jan. due to 3 Kings Day. If I decorated at home instead of at FIL's, that's what I would do as well. Growing up, we had Roman Catholic neighbors who always invited my sister and me to their house to celebrate 'Little Chr-stmas' with them on Epiphany. They redid he holiday completely, from stockings to smaller wrpped gifts, to a festive meal. Then they would drive us to Little Havana to see the Three Kings Day Parade. They also celebrated the Advent season, so they would set up their tree a week before Chr-stmas to give it time to open, but wouldn't decorate it until the 24th. And the lights were never turned on until after they returned from Midnight Mass. I guess since they didn't set it up until so late, they never had the chance to get tired of the decorations before Epiphany...
bleyso Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I hate putting the tree up! and taking it down.
shanni Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I took care of all my stuff yesterday, just the outside stuff is left now. And that's the hubbys department
