Kayakmom
I was thinking about getting some gift cards for nieces and nephews. I know that AAA has the Amex Gift Cards, but they cost $4.95 each. I was searching online and found one bank that issues them free to customers, but they are not very close to my home. I like the idea of gift cards rather than cash. Any suggestions as to where to get them? I noticed that PriceGrabber has the Visa Gift Cards with no fee, but I'm not sure how reliable they are and if they'll get here in time. I have a bunch to buy, so I don't want to spend a lot on fees. Any suggestions?

nikkilugi
I see that many retailers offer a version of a prepaid visa gift card but I imagine most charge that fee. Here is the visa website that lists the retailers that sell them http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/prepaid/visa_gift_card_order.jsp?it=c|%2Fpersonal%2Fcards%2Fprepaid%2Fgift_card_how%2Ehtml|Purchase%20a%20Visa%20Gift%20card You can copy and paste that link since I can't get it to link correctly. You can always call you local retailers and ask if they have any fees associated with buying from them before you go online. Sorry I can't be more help. ms_mckenna
Doesn't Simon mall do them without a fee? Not 100% but you might want to check there.
KiriJoan
Simon gift cards have the $5 fee. If you go to your bank, they are usually more than willing to get one to you at no fee. Buying one online, you're liable to pay for something, whether it be shipping or a processing fee. Plus, usually your bank is willing to provide the same kind of payment protection you currently have on your debit card in case the person you give it to gets it stolen. sevirj
My daughter got a Visa giftcard from a relative Christmas 2 yrs ago, and forgot she had it. What we didn't know was that after a certain period of time, they charge you a monthly fee, so be sure to tell whoever you give it to to use it and not forget about it. mrn8
I believe the UPS Store has them as well. I'm not sure what they charge for them, though.
