I need a good deal for a desk top computer

Recommended Posts

I do not need a monitor included since I got my 22 inch on black Fri.. I want at least 2 Gig Ram in .. Do you think I should wait till the Vista is already installed or will that make any difference for us to upgrade. I was leaning towards a dell but my kids E machines have held up pretty good no problems at all so I am open minded on the brand except HP. ( had problems) What about gateway. From what I understand emachine is made by gateway.. HELP..

Staples has a Compaq Presario advertised this week.

It does come with a monitor though.

It is $299.96 and you can upgrade to 160 GB for an additional $70.00.

Here is the link to the ad. You can see what you get with it.

Put in your zipcode to get the ad for your area.

The computer was on page 3.

Yes, Gateway bought our Emachines. Emachines are somehow still better than standard Gateway's though. If you can find a good deal on an Emachine, take it. Unless you plan on doing a lot of gaming it should be fine.

The computer listed above from staples only has 512 MB RAM.

Keep in mind, you do need at least 2 GB RAM to run Vista.

If you buy from dell (I just ordered one this weel) you can get a pretty nice machine at a decent price. I don't know what your price range is, but they usually have something to meet everyone's needs. Not to mention, you get a free upgrade to Vista when it becomes available.

So, I would go with dell if you want Vista, Emachines if you don't (and can find a good deal). The best thing would be to go onto dell.com and build the computer you want to see the price range your looking at. Keep in mind 2 GB of ram is going to be expensive no matter where you go.
