just to warn anyone interested in buying these... you totally get what you paid for in a $99 instrument. usually, they are made very cheaply, keys will bend easily and parts are hard to find. you are much better off buying a brand name like bundy, selmer, yamaha, bach, king, holton, etc. you can get a used one off ebay for $50 and even if you have to pay more for repairs, it's a better deal in the long run.

My hubby is a band director and yes, they bend and break and the only way to get them fixed is to send them off for many weeks. No repair shop will touch them! He had a couple of kids that bought them and were not able to play most of the year. He now FORBIDS any student to purchase one of the "cheap" (made) kind.

i forbid them too, same reason. i remember one child in particular, had a clarinet, the metal was so soft that you could bend keys with just the tiniest push. she was a beginner and i felt so bad for her, because she couldn't make any progress on her instrument. i had to futz with it and do little repairs on it at nearly every class.

I agree also! Don't buy these instruments. You cannot expect a young student to be successful when the instruments do not play correctly! Buy a used brand name instrument as mentioned above!

We rent ours from a music store...I realize that will be more cost in the long run, but there is no guarantee my son will stick with band. The band director strongly discouraged parents from buying cheap instruments.
