rwfromkansas
Hello, Best Buy's 250 buck laptop piqued my interest. Though it is a Celeron, I would not use it for graphics-intensive gaming, just word processing, the net, and PowerPoint. I have a desktop for processor-eating tasks. The HD and memory are good for the price, and it has attracted by attention. However, when I looked for the model number online, I have been able to find no reviews of this computer. Why can't I find any reviews? Is this an item only Best Buy sells in an agreement with Toshiba? If not, the fact that I can't find any reviews is really worrisome since this is obviously not a major model, but a throwaway model that probably is a piece of junk. Anybody have any insight on this computer? The link is: triple http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1158317794220&skuId=8103535&type=product I have never shopped on Black Friday in my life and won't this year unless I see this as being a decent deal, and I am skeptical despite my tiny needs for a laptop. Best Buy's ticket policy is frankly stupid. It should be every customer for themselves, not you can only buy this if you have a ticket. What a retarded idea and completely contrary to the principles of American freedom. I can't imagine being willing to wait in line for this thing, but the specs look great to me. And for 250! Being the ever-cautious guy, I hope to find some more information on the computer, however. Thanks for any help.
Mike
A lot of times with black friday, retailers with work with manufactures to create black friday "only" products. This means that not only has this laptop never been sold anywhere before, after black friday is over, it won't be sold again. This makes it hard to gain reviews on products. heatherlin7
I have also looked for reviews but have come up empty. Still...looks like a steal and I think we might try to grab one at that price. My needs are similar to yours, no gaming, just net and home stuff, homework helper for my teen as well. Hopefully it will be a decent laptop.
bigjimslade
Welcome to the community! Mike is right about BB creating a special model number and SKU for this product. BB has done this for years and it keeps people from price matching. This laptop will be great for doing homework, internet and email on it and for the price you can beat it. If you are wanting this laptop I would get into like between 7pm and 9pm local time on Thursday. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions just post them. AaronOnline
Yeah, you have to love Best Buy and their little "change number" shady way of business. Sure, it will stop price matching but it also deters people and keeps others from getting exactly what they are looking for since they cannot truly know if it is something they should get. aarvee
I think the Compaq Presario V2312US Notebook PC that will be available at Staples has a better configuration than the celeron. In future you just need to upgrade the RAM to 2 gig. and it will be as fast as a $1000 computer Moreover the lines at bestbuy are loinger than at staples.
