The online ad posted on BB's site right now lists this as "emachines Computer Package Intel® Celeron® D 352 Processor, 15" LCD Monitor and Canon Color Printer" I hope that HP's support is right though, because the 355 is a tiny bit faster of a processor (3.33GHz compared to 3.2 GHz.

Ok so this migh be a repeat but here it goes. I went to the BB web site and looked at the flyer for firday and put in my zip code and looked at the flyer for my region, and it does not have the 189.00 emachines computer. So I got to checking arround in other zip codes and for another state next to mine they have it but not in my state they only have the 15.00 gift card for ever 100.00 spent. SO I remember this happened last year that some stores for BB were doing the gift card and others were doing the sales. WATCH out cuz you might not be in a area with the sales you are looking for ! GO AND CHECK IT OUT!

It's a perfectly good computer for the average user. I would definitly reccomend getting it.

Not only that but this has an open PCIE slot with upgradeble ddr2 ram up to 2 gigs. I am going to get this and the pcie card they are selling. I will upgrade the power supply put the card in it with 2 gig of good ram plus i have a p4 640 3.2 ghz hyper threading processor with some adding cooling and my wife will have a decent gaming comp.

This is listed with the T3522 eMachines code so I am thinking the call center made a mistake. Easy to do since even emachines.com and e4me.com do not have this system listed (at least not that I have seen)

If you plan on gaming, definately pick up an after-market graphics card because the provided "media accelerator" really will just not cut it. There are many card available, including one on sale at Best Buy, but, if you want true gaming performance, I would say look to higher end cards and not just sale items.

Besides, the sale card ( ATI x1600 Pro 512 MB PCIe ) only has a minimum of 5 in store so it will be more of a fight for them than the pc since you get a ticket for the PC but not the card.

You also should be careful telling people to get to high end of a video card for this machine. For one they are very power hungry and unless you upgrade the power supply it may not boot at all or be very unstable. Not to mention these cases are not the best and you run the risk of cooling issues.

Anyone that's upgrading the card is very capable of swapping power supplies in a worst case scenario. And a 160mm fan or two wouldn't be hard to add as well. I'm unsure how these cases are cooled myself. I just don't want to scare people away form upgrading this when in reality, chances are it'll take all those upgrades fine.

Other Thoughts: good graphics card needs to be cooled a lot very cheap but still becomes extremely hot probably goin to upgrade it in the next few months

 

 

Excellent card for the $$, ATI offers the absolute BEST support available, new drivers released monthly.

 

Cons: heat tends to be a problem for this card *IF* you dont have adequate cooling in your PC. I have had no problems running two of these cards in crossfire, side by side, just keep my case fans turned up :)

Anyone have any luck calling a Best Buy store to get an estimate on items that are described as "quantities limited to warehouse stock". I spoke with a rep. over the phone and she said the TV I was asking about could have 1 in the warehouse 5 or 10, no way to know until Friday morning. Anyone know any tricks on getting that info. from a rep. at BB?

The eMachine cases are really not that bad. I, personally, am running off a eMachines T2341 right now overclocked to about 2.6 Ghz with an additional harddrive and an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro card (which creates a buttload of heat) and have only had moderate issues. Nothing serious and easily correctable by simply buying another fan for the case (yes, most emachine cases have available areas for an extra fan or two)

 

I run my machine without the side panel anyways since I am usually changing this, adding that, pulling this... I am a geek and love seeing how far I can push my machine.

 

As for the processor speed, there is definately a conflict as the Celeron D 352 chip is only a 3.2 Ghz chip ( intel website info here ) but is VERY easily overclocked to 4+ with the right motherboard. Of course, most will run with the stock motherboard so I wouldn't go above 3.6 Ghz or so and that is ONLY if you know what you are doing.

 

The power supply should be just fine for running this system under 99.9% of circumstances so do not let it keep you from picking up this PC.

 

True, it is not a "powerhouse" but, to be honest, if you wanted a "powerhouse" PC you would just build your own and not deal with store bough package deals anyways.

I haven't bought a PC in 9+ years. I built my first when I started college and never looked back. I can't turn this down for <$200 though. I haven't decided what it's role is going to be yet, but I'm sticking the 15" lcd in the garage for a PC/Tv out there, and I'll use the printer as my main printer unless it's a photo sized printer. I never have good printers at home since I'm an engineer at a print controller company and can print anything I want on pretty much any size paper. I think I may make this my new HTPC, but I really want to know if it has an open AGP slot. I'll buy it either way, but I'd like to have that slot open for my ATI all in wonder.

I for one am with you. I never wanted to scare anyone from this comp. But we do have to be careful how we word things as to not let people think they can run out and put power house stuff in here and just run like that. I build my own comps and my wife has a compaq and I am tired of hearing how come She always gets my left overs. I will purchase this and throw my p4 640 in it with ati card and 2 gig ocz ram with a new power supply and that will fix her. What she does not know is I already ordered my Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 Kentsfield 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80562QX6700

I was in a BB about 3 hours ago and they stated that they EXACTLY 10 available. I have seen the monitor ( its regularly in the $185 range). Its actually a good computer for most people. HEy it loos like 9 pm start time for us

No AGP slot in this PC... it is the new PCI Express (PCIe) format which is supposed to be a better graphics solution than AGP or PCI... although people still debate the truthfullness in that theory but, well, there ya have it.

 

I am kinda stuck where you are... have an AGP ATI Radeon 9800 Pro right now but that is ok, I will just upgrade to a new PCIe card.

Anybody score the computer? I definitely did! Got there at 7 pm.. was #30 in line. By the time bestbuy opened there were 800+ people in line. Mass amounts of people came between 1 and 2 am. I just laughed at them. Theres only one or two best buys in the state so that explains the 800 people. Computers works like a charm and monitor is great! Can't wait til next year :)
