airupthere824
... so im looking at this insignia 27" hdtv for $280 from bestbuy on BF. It says its not an early bird special. Does this mean they will have a large quantity in the store? Does this mean i will not have to stand in line all night at the store? I really want this tv but i also dont want to stand in line. If so what would be a good time to go pick up this tv?
RossMAN
... so im looking at this insignia 27" hdtv for $280 from bestbuy on BF. It says its not an early bird special. Does this mean they will have a large quantity in the store? No, it means there will be a very limited supply. Maybe around 10, that's just a guess. Does this mean i will not have to stand in line all night at the store? No. It depends on how popular this TV is and how many people stand in line. Since we cannot predict the future (yet), we don't know. I would get in line around Midnight - 2 AM if you really want this TV. I really want this tv but i also dont want to stand in line. If so what would be a good time to go pick up this tv?Unfortunately if you really want something, so do 2000 other shoppers in your city. If you don't get in line early, they will and when you arrive at 5AM - it will be SOLD OUT.

RossMAN
So if there would be a limited supply of around 10. Then what would an early bird be? 2 or 3?Early bird = available at opening time 5AM Ask yourself. Will you be able to walk into the store at 5AM and buy this? No. Because there will be 500 people in line and the first people in line will have a voucher for the early bird items.
marshalljay
Hard to say - if you follow RossMANs advice, you will get one. OTOH, you may not need to - I hit my BB last BF around 7 am - picked up the 30" WS Insignia HD set for 400 bucks, plus got the instant $80 BB gift card with purchase. They had several - no big deal. (ad says minimum 3 per store for the one you want.) Gotta remember - 1 - Insignia is a make-believe brand. not in high demand. No info on web, no service if you need it, no website, nothing. Plus, a relatively poor reputation. 2 - it is a crt - big, heavy. most people are going to want the nice, sexy flat screen models. Hard telling exactly who makes the 27" set in the ad. But fwiw, once I found the service menu (after TWO monthes of searching) I managed to make my Insignia watchable. They really aren't that good - shouldn't be that big a demand. More of a WalMart type item. - I use mine in the bedroom - would drive me nuts for serious use. You should be able to show up at 6 or 7 and score one. Now, the Westinghouse LCD, THAT, you'd probably have to show up at midnight for. btw - WHERE is that instant BB gift card this year - the one that ramps up more money the more you spend? That was cool.
H_Hancock
Also remember about Insignia, BB's house brand, that it only carries a 90-day warranty. I haven't seen any TV, even ilo from Wal-Mart, with a warranty less than 1 year, but Insignia is only for 90 days. Does this speak to its quality? Well, when you Google Insignia, you can find horror stories over the last two years since Insignia was introduced into BB (in 2004). TVs and other Insignia-branded electronic hardware, including computers, that failed a month or so after the warranty ran out. Then, when taken back to BB for repair, parts are unavailable. Personally, I'd buy a name I recognize for the few dollars more that it'd cost...............like Philips, Sanyo, Toshiba, Samsung, RCA, anything else, almost. laffnatu
I don't know if you noticed it about the insignia but it has a $80 mail in rebate. This is from the small print in the ad. REg. price $399.99 - $50 instant savings= $349.99 - $80 mail- in rebate = $269.99 Minimum 3 per store. I thought about this tv before I noticed the small print about the mail in rebate. I'm still on the fence about messing with rebates this year.
H_Hancock
Also, there is a small matter of the weight of the thing......a tad over 100#. A bit of a load to tug around.

kmbrly
I was at BB this evening, and there were a couple of pallets of (I'm assuming) these TVs wrapped in black shrink wrap (and not wrapped very well) But... these are large Tvs, so that's still not alot. There were boo-coos (that's alot, incase you didn't know ) of the portable DVD player. Enough that I'm thinking I might can just hit BB after Walmart and still be on on the DVD thing.
