I have a question about refunds

The more I read the more disturbed I get. Posts all over are talking about buying something supercheap and then returning it without a reciept to a different store to get a full price refund. Or the store they bought it from won't take it back so they take it somewhere else with a more lax return policy.

Is this the norm? Does everyone do this?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but this doesn't seem right to me. This does explain why I get the treatment I do from some stores when I try to return something though. :yuck:

I guess I'm just wondering if I'm the only one that doesn't get this.

You are not the only one. It's because of all the dishonest people out there that you have all the rules. It is getting worse and worse.

I can remember a few years back when they built the WM closer to us. I have seen Kmart stickers on items on the shelves there. Now that they are cracking down on returns I think it's fine the way they handle it. Makes it tuff on some of us, especially since I lose reciepts all the time. I'm bad that way. I still from time to time take items back, but they give me a gift card without a reciept. But then again, most of the ppl at our WM know me by name, I'm there that much. Scary huh? :giggle:

Most stores will not give a refund without a receipt anymore.

There is one instance where almost every store will accept a return without a receipt......the week or so after Christmas. Not every Christmas present comes with a receipt inside.....I do know Best Buy, among others, has essentially an open return policy through the middle of January...don't need a receipt, but the UPC code on the product you're returning has to be one that matches what they carry. Not all products are exactly the same from store chain to store chain.
