isabel Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Hello everyone. This year for Christmas, I want to give my parents a luggage set. I have been looking around and prices for a luggage set go from $50 to $300. There is so much to choose from that it is confusing me:confused: I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction and give me some recommendations. I am able to spend from $100-$150. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Isabel
Marcster Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Ebags is offering free shipping for orders over $35.00. http://www.ebags.com My wife and I like the "soft-sided" vs. the duffel bag style. Things tend to get so wrinkled in the duffel-style bag..
kmbrly Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I also prefer the soft sided luggage rather than the duffel bag type. I have this luggage: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d77/kmbrly999/IMAG048.gif I can always find my luggage at the airport (or it's easy to describe to the airline when THEY lose it)

Personally, I prefer to tie a ribbon around a handle of the luggage vs. luggage covered in lips. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Love/lips.gif But, that's just me! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/LOL/lol2.gif

AndreaInNC Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Buy something with a warranty on it .. luggage can be so cheaply made that it falls apart easily. Samsonite is more expensive, but it comes with a lifetime warranty. With luggage, you get what you pay for most of the time. You buy cheap luggage, you get cheap luggage IMHO.
Marcster Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Although it won't be a "set", there are usually good deals at Ross Stores, TJ Maxx and Mashalls. Sometimes they'll have individual bags tagged as clearance (with red labels).
shopping mom Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 If they travel a lot then A good name brand with a warrent would probably be a good idea. I f they only travel once or twice a year then I would think a set from Kohls, (Can usually find a set for under 100) could work.
kselzer Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I needed to buy some luggage for work a couple years ago and after all my price comparisons and such I ended up buying at Macy's. They regularly have really good markdowns and % off on the lower end luggage that is still good quality (not samsonite, but still good). I got three nesting pieces for about $70-$80, three total one very large, one large, and one good size laptop, etc or cosmetics bag. All three have roller wheels and extending & locking handles. Mine is red, however the lips are just cute - i personally would be too embarrased to tell the airline they lost my smotching lips luggage though :)
