ViewSonic N2700W BF deal at CompUsa

Bought the ViewSonic N2700W 27" HD-Ready LCD TV/Monitor at CompUsa today. Have not been able to find many reviews. My intention is to replace a 17" LCD Monitor with this unit. So primary use will be for computer monitor with TV viewing secondary but still important. Anyone have any insight into my intended usaage. Do you think the N2700W will perform adequately as a computer monitor? Anyone possibly have one of these they are using? The deal CompUsa was offering just looked too good and could not pass up this BF deal. Thanks for any input.

One of the reviewers at Amazon was not impressed:

"The "PC Connectivity" of this monitor is a joke. I wanted to get an immediate refund. Windows XP is NOT compatible with this sleek hi tech monster. All I could eventually get was HUGE type that was still blurry. BUY A TV MONITOR, NOT THIS MESS. It would make a nice TV as it is portable and seems to pick up vibrant and bright color. Frankly, the Sharp Aquos series is far better--it's a really beautiful set and picture. It does NOT claim any PC ability. At least Sharp is honest."

Take this review at face value of course...

Hi Rick,

Thank you for joining our forums and welcome aboard!

I must say the specs are impressive but this is very highly priced.

For about $500 less you could buy TWO Dell UltraSharp 2001FP LCD's, and you can watch TV on those as well. They don't have a built-in TV tuner but you could use the 2001FP's s-video input and watch TV through your VCR's TV tuner. Also the Dell has a nice 3 year warranty.

Been working most of day on preparing space in den for 42" plasma I got my dad (had to remove several year old 35" rca) and preparing space in my room for ViewSonic N2700W 27" LCD. Got the plasma up and going and my dad really likes it...so do I. Just got this ViewSonic configured and so far all looks really good. What real estate!!!! Seems to be working ok with XP home ..... time will tell. Only problem is that I have another TV and a couple of vcr/dvd combo's in my room wiht the ViewSonic and whenever I use their remotes, something (so far unpredictable and seemingly random) changes on the ViewSonic when I use one of the other remotes. Will need to work out some sort of resolution to this as it is really inconvenient. Overall, I am really happy with the deal I got at CompUsa on BF on the ViewSonic and the plasma. Now if only I can keep moving forward instead of doing stupid things (took and older wireless Logitech Trackman mosue apart last night to clean the ball and ended up with some springs I cannot figure out how to reinstall -- ordered new cordless optical Logitech trackman from ZipZoomFly and was pleasantly surprised to find they are offering FREE 2nd Day FedEx on qualifiying products of which this was one.) Looking forward to seening this site grow and prosper as the folks here seem to be real nice and the admins are great. So long for now... Rick

Ross -- Its always going to be a mess...but thats the way things are---functional. I will make exception to one of my golden rules and will post picts soon. Once I'm ready, then I need to learn to post picts. Never had real desire to do so in any forums before but I guess its getting to be time to figure it out. Rick

What plasma TV did you get?? How much did you pay?? I bought a 42" from BB. Problably the bottom of the line but it may be doable. I still haven't decided whether I am keeping it. 42" for $1,440.79 after tax. discounts and rebates.

I'd keep it :-) My husband bought a 53" Toshiba HDTV this past summer. The thing is HUGE! I tried to talk him into one of the smaller, thinner plasmas, but he wouldn't budge :-(

I got the Daewoo 42" with built in tuner and with speakers for $1800 with a $200 gift card by mail. Got it set up and am really impressed with it. For the $, I know its a keeper. Rick
