  1. I got the Daewoo 42" with built in tuner and with speakers for $1800 with a $200 gift card by mail. Got it set up and am really impressed with it. For the $, I know its a keeper. Rick
  2. Ross -- Its always going to be a mess...but thats the way things are---functional. I will make exception to one of my golden rules and will post picts soon. Once I'm ready, then I need to learn to post picts. Never had real desire to do so in any forums before but I guess its getting to be time to figure it out. Rick
  3. Been working most of day on preparing space in den for 42" plasma I got my dad (had to remove several year old 35" rca) and preparing space in my room for ViewSonic N2700W 27" LCD. Got the plasma up and going and my dad really likes it...so do I. Just got this ViewSonic configured and so far all looks really good. What real estate!!!! Seems to be working ok with XP home ..... time will tell. Only problem is that I have another TV and a couple of vcr/dvd combo's in my room wiht the ViewSonic and whenever I use their remotes, something (so far unpredictable and seemingly random) changes on the ViewSonic when I use one of the other remotes. Will need to work out some sort of resolution to this as it is really inconvenient. Overall, I am really happy with the deal I got at CompUsa on BF on the ViewSonic and the plasma. Now if only I can keep moving forward instead of doing stupid things (took and older wireless Logitech Trackman mosue apart last night to clean the ball and ended up with some springs I cannot figure out how to reinstall -- ordered new cordless optical Logitech trackman from ZipZoomFly and was pleasantly surprised to find they are offering FREE 2nd Day FedEx on qualifiying products of which this was one.) Looking forward to seening this site grow and prosper as the folks here seem to be real nice and the admins are great. So long for now... Rick

    Kudos to Ross and Brad!

Thanks for all the hard work. Was more informed for BF as a result of your efforts. Rick
  5. Bought the ViewSonic N2700W 27" HD-Ready LCD TV/Monitor at CompUsa today. Have not been able to find many reviews. My intention is to replace a 17" LCD Monitor with this unit. So primary use will be for computer monitor with TV viewing secondary but still important. Anyone have any insight into my intended usaage. Do you think the N2700W will perform adequately as a computer monitor? Anyone possibly have one of these they are using? The deal CompUsa was offering just looked too good and could not pass up this BF deal. Thanks for any input. Rick
  6. Used to "hide" major purchases in plain sight in my house and claim they were being stored for a neighbor until Christmas and then...surprise... this is really for you. Neighbor did same thing for their house. Can only pull this stunt every couple of years to keep everyone guessing if it real or memorex. Rick
  7. Survived (barely) BF at CompUsa in New Orleans but what a cluster **** You would think they have never experienced a BF before. Passed by BB at 12:30am on way to CompUsa and they had ~20 people in line. Nothing else to do so went to CompUsa and sat in car until ~3am when others started arriving...just a few until ~5am when all those that tried to go to BB that late and found LONG LONG lines gave up and came to Comp. Earlie Birds were very nice people and line was very well behaved until ~ 5am when we had our first line crasher near the front of the line. Things then got a little tense until we got inside. Earlie Birders formed an "alliance" to go find items of common interest and pick up multiple quantities for a later pre-arranged rendezvous to divide loot up and then go face the ridiculous lines for check out. Untrained, unqualified cashier charged me twice for a plasma tv and wondered why I would not sign CC receipt...took manager about 15 minutes to figure out what happened as they would not show me the detailed receipt until I signed for mechandise but I would not sign when it was very obvious to me that my total was off by a large magnitude, not some insignificant amount. Got most of what I wanted but was too tired of the hassles to pursue other minor items I wanted. Did I mention their "organization" was a cluster ****???? Time for nap now as I have been up since 6am Thursday and cooked a Thanksgiving dinner yesterday before heading out. Later .......... Hope all had better experiences than I and at least got what they wanted. Rick ps - please excuse any rambling and misspelling as I am"walking wounded" right now. Nite Nite
  8. Someone on Candlepower Forums ( http://www.candlepowerforums.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php ) posted a link and the rest is as they say....history. Keep up the great work.
