lesliepear Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 What's the best deal this year for blank DVD's?
c-prompt Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 I heard the Teon at Staples was a good deal. I think it's avail on-line too.
Brad Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 BB has a 50-pack for $2.99 after $30 rebate. They were available online earlier this morning but are now sold out.

shopperstef Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 I think it's a fancy way of saying mail-in rebate... but don't quote me on it.
biomajor Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 They have mail in rebates too--Easy Rebates are rebates you fulfill online :-) You still have to wait for your money, but you don't have to mail anything off.

c-prompt Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 DVD-r or DVD+r with the teon? I thought I heard DVD-R was better for compatibility reasons.
shopperstef Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Yup, either or. I think the DVD-Rs work with a greater number of DVD players but the newer models usually play both kinds.
Mr.Hostility Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Yup, either or. I think the DVD-Rs work with a greater number of DVD players but the newer models usually play both kinds. Not really true anymore. They are about the same.
shopperstef Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Well, you can check up on your player here, just in case: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php
elena_398 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I just bought a couple of 50 packs of DVD+R 4x media from CompUSA online. Only a penny shipping for each you order and its under accessories which right now using the code: thanks25 will give you an additional 25% off. The unbelievable thing is, that right now they are origonally only $19.99!!!! Huge Sale! With 25% off its only $14.99 a 50 pack! Unbelievable. Plenty of discs now to burn movies! I don't have to brave Office Max now!
samcasey Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 BB had 50 pack DVD+R for $2.99 AR this morning, but it's sold out now. That's a deal!
elena_398 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 BB had a better deal, but I look at it this way.....I don't have to deal w/ BB on BF and my savings were right now. No rebate. Worth it for me!
venerdinero Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 double check me as this sounds almost too good - even better than what elena_398 posted from same store - compusa! (although I will rip them for a scam in another post :) ) 100 pack of either dvd+r or dvd-r (316430/316438) 6 hour special BF 6am-12pm.$69.00 - $50.00 INSTANT savings = $19.00!!! I doubt this will last long!
elena_398 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I does sound almost too good to be true, but I comfirmed my order. CompUSA sent an email a little while ago saying shipping will be within the next 2-3 business days. I got 3 50 packs for only $14.99 a piece. I burn movies for my mom and sister too so this was great for me. I love the fact their savings are INSTANT and not a mail in rebate. Never heard of the store until coming here. Its great
elena_398 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I just checked out that deal on the 100 pack and its not available online. I guess you have to be in store to get that deal. I don't have a CompUSA near me so Im happy with my 50 pack deal.
biomajor Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Actually, it's right--it's on the front of the ad near the bottom in the center. $69.99 each-$50 instant savings. 100 Pack DVD+r or DVD-R media #316430/#316438
biomajor Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I just checked. The product is available online, but right now it's still $69.99--maybe tomorrow???
shopperstef Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 CompUSA has a Memorex 50-pack 8x DVD+R or DVD-R Media $19.99 ($20 instant savings) It also has a 100-PACK DVD+R or DVD-R Media for $19.99 ($50 instant savings)
c-prompt Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Can you order the Teon from Staples online starting tomorrow (or tomorrow at 6am)? It doesn't say anything about in-store only on their website.
moneyman1978 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Easy Rebate is a new thing they have you fill out the form online and you get the check in the mail i think i know i am getting $10 for a linksys WRT54g router i bought it is so easy to do so if you get a chance i would do the easy rebate.
darkedgex Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Not really true anymore. They are about the same.DVD-R's can hold about 3-4 MB more data and are more compatible with older set-top DVD players (my mom has an older player from circa 1999-2000 which will only play DVD-R's). If your goal is data backup I've heard DVD+R's are more compatible with DVD-ROM drives and are generally better for PC use. BTW, not trying to imply that the 3-4 MB difference is huge, but if you're using the blank DVD's to make backups you might find it harder to make an exact 1:1 copy of something going to a DVD+R if the DVD you're copying is totally full. =)
