How many gifts do you give your kids for Christmas? Where do you draw the line? I'm only asking bc my son is 2 now, and he is starting to realize the whole gift getting thing. My sister goes way overboard I think, giving her kids like 20 gifts each.

I would be a bad person to get advice from on this, lol. I buy way more than 20 presents each and spend as much as I possibly can, lol. I start buying stuff in February, lol. They usually only get one present each that costs around $100 though. Last year it was a portable DVD player. I only got about 10 gifts when I was a kid so I go way overboard with my kids. They probably get a total of $800 in gifts each counting grandparents too. Birthdays are just as bad if not worse. I know I'm bad and I spoil them, lol.

Pardon the crappy pics! I broke my camera before Christmas and didn't buy a new one until after Christmas!

I normally do about 15-20, but now they are older and their wants are more expensive. I told them narrow their list down to five items this year. They have a list of about 10 and they keep changing but they will still end up with prob about 10-12 from us. I have several stocking stuffers only that I "won" playing online games and such.

DH and I don't have kids just yet, (We keep trying!) we have three small nephews on my side of the family, and two nephews and a niece on his side of the family.

We try and spend the same amount on each child and we usually end up buying around 10 gifts for each. We do toys, pjs, and winter clothing for each.

We try to keep it at 10 gifts each, no more than 12. This works nicely for us. In the past we went overboard and the kids didn't really appreciate any of it.

Right now I have 12 gifts for my daughter and I'm not finished yet. We spoil her at Christmas time tremendously. I still have lots on a list that I am getting her and still have stocking stuffers to purchase. I will continue to buy for her right up until Christmas Eve.

I said 3-6. He is the only grandkid for both sides so they spoil him, and he has 5 uncles and 2 aunts so he get allot from everyone.

It will be more from us this year if I count all the stuff I am getting for his new room.

I picked the wrong one now that I figure it up again! This year I figure the kids will get 16 gifts a piece plus stockings. But when you brake it down it's not really a lot: 3 pjs, 3 t-shirts, 3 jeans, socks, underwear, boots (cowboy for DS, then girly boots for both DD) a DVD movie, and then three toys a piece. i could decrease it by 3 if I put the t-shirts and jeans together but I like the look of having lots of presents under the tree!

OMG i am honrstly shocked that people give so much, i have a 10 month old daughter, she'll be one on New Years Eve, she is getting 3 gifts, a stocking, plus pjs and a stuffed doll.

I only have one child and he usually gets everything on his christmas list plus alot more, but this year i'm going to try something different. About two months ago we were talking about christmas and he started telling me some of the things he wanted. I asked him what he wanted to give jesus for his birthday, since it is HIS birthday and not anyone elses. That really got him thinking, so he decided that instead of being selfish and just thinking about what he wanted, he was going to give jesus a present. He cut his list down considerable and now he wants to go to church on christmas as a gift to Jessus.

My kids end up with about 20 - 30 gifts each (and we have 3)...Most of them are not on the expensive end either. They each get one "big" gift and we tend to spend between $50 - $125 on those.

Okay, ya'll are making me feel very stingy. I have two kids and I selected 3-6, it's usually more like 6. I get them stuff all year round. And as a single mom I can't afford to over indulge. Neither kid seems to feel deprived so it works for us.

I picked the 6-10 which might be on the low side. We normally get i big gift for everyone and then each kid gets smaller ones. I have 4 kids so I start very early and almost never pay full price for anything. My teenage daughter only wants clothes, esp American Eagle and I buy them nline as the closest store is 2 hours away. This year so far I have about 6 per kid and I'm not done yet.

I have 3 kids, and they get between 10-15 gifts each, with one of those being expensive. (Well, that is a relative term, but 'expensive' to us)

This year, they are getting a go-cart (to share) and portable dvd players, so they will be getting two 'expensive' gifts, and so they may not get as many smaller gifts.

When they get older, it's hard to do massive amounts of quanity...

Usually around 12-15. With one bigger gift. I have 6 children ages range 20-1 years. My 20 year old is on his own so lil grandson takes his place. He still get a few but I think it should be more for the kids.

I couldn't tell you how many each child gets. It all depends on what they ask for. I have a friend who has 25 boxes and she fills each one with a gift for each of her kids and then gives them Santa gifts on top of that. She said she's afraid one will think they got more than the other if she doesn't do it that way. I totally don't get that kind of thinking.

We have cut way back with Christmas. Our kids are 24, 18, 18, 13, and 6. The 6 year old doesn't get as much as the others did when they were his age, but it's b/c we're much smarter now. Holidays are not all about how much stuff we can give them anymore.
