Kanyon71 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I saw Big Lots was saved so they won’t be closing all stores. 1

Kanyon71 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Are they still closing it even after the new company saved them?
Brad Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 https://www.axios.com/2025/01/09/kohls-closing-stores-list-april-2025 Kohl's closing 27 stores by April. I'm guessing there will be more than that before the year is done.
Kanyon71 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I just saw Macy’s is closing like 64 most of them within the first 3 months of this year.

Brad Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 JoAnn files for bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/15/business/joann-bankruptcy/index.html
tinkrbel Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Maybe I'm stuck in the past but it's scary what these places charge as regular price for decoration/ splurge/ unnecessary things. Even at 75% off, I couldn't justify buying Halloween clearance at Joann's (Michael's was worse). Big Lots was a huge time waster trying to figure out what to spend my $20 gift card on. Wound up just buying Christmas Nightmare lights and spending more since 1 set wouldn't do much but I couldn't find $20 worth of other stuff to buy after walking around for like an hour. Everyone was walking around saying the same thing, Where's the sale? The shelves were pretty bare, lots of damaged stuff and one offs or loads of the same unwanted things, a handful of suitcases with zippers struggling to open. 2
Kanyon71 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Was reading that Joann’s is closing about 500 of their 800 stores with this round of bankruptcy. Not going to be many of them left inmost states.

wittenlover Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Most around me are closing. I don't hit Joann's often but I will miss them still for the times I did find stuff I needed there. 1

I'm out of town but have a couple slow days to get stuff done and decided to hit the Party City's in the area hoping for amazing deals. At the register for Party City I overhear a lady talking about Joann's had AT MOST 20% off. I HAD considered walking over but decided against it since I'd already blown entirely too much time at the mall. The one Party City had more stuff and better discounts while the other was more picked through and had less discounts. The one back home had better costume selection and for $4 whereas here they were a flat 80% off. I may stop by one tomorrow in Orlando assuming I wake up early and have the full day to peruse.

Ya I sort of feel they will just move stuff to other stores. A lot of these closeout deals I see is they bring in stuff they never carried and the stuff you want is already gone somehow. 2

lucyismycat Posted Monday at 04:53 PM Posted Monday at 04:53 PM The Joanns closing really hurts. I shopped there quite a bit, and bought my embroidery machine from a Viking dealer inside one of those stores. I went to my local one yesterday and 1. I've never seen so many cars in the parking lot, 2. People were bellied up to the cutting bar with bolt after bolt of fabrics, yelling at the employees that they only wanted a half yard even though there were signs everywhere saying they had a 1 yard minimum and 3. 20% off is not a real sale, when you could regularly use a 40% off coupon previously. I don't know where these people came from, but I felt so bad for the employees having to deal with them. I walked out without buying anything, I just felt like saying goodbye to an old friend. Not sure where I'll get my fabric from in the future, but I'm sure something will pop up in its place. I really don't like the idea of buying fabric online. I have enough of a stash to last me through at least one apocalypse, so I should be good for a while 2

She has started 4 temperature blankets (I think is what they are called), one for herself and one for my sister, brother, and me. She's been using Joanns branded yarn. She said the yard from HL comes close to the same colors, but not exact. She's going to try to get as much yarn as she can, but it probably won't be enough to finish the blankets so she's pretty bummed about it too. 1
