tinkrbel
So, in my mind there was never a question of going with the 64GB since nothing is upgradable. However I recently looked at what we have and it IS a 64GB and we've never had issues. Should I be aiming for the larger considering apps etc have probably gotten bigger etc? Also, just because the replacement reason is lack of updating due to age of last one, I was thinking of going to 10th gen. Should I consider 9th generation too? Yes, money is tight but also I'm not trying to skimp on something which will hopefully last another 10 years or whatever this one has. Update: while looking up possible trade in values I discovered that what we have is a 1st generation iPad air which isn't eligible for any trade in. kinda proud that this 1st generation service is in pretty pristine condition over 10 years later. Does that affect what we need? Looks like the Air is thinner but also more expensive. Edited November 12 by tinkrbel
Kanyon71
I’d go with a larger storage if possible. Apple is usually more expensive but they are built to be used for years.
bpr
A good chance your iPad will last a long time and might not fill up the storage. The problem I see is that over time, the OS will no longer receive updates. This can affect apps as well. They supported the iPad mini 2 for a long time (more than any other IIRC, but then the apps stopped working sometime late. Never used my storage up, but they got me with the updates. Truth be told, this is pretty much the same thing for all tablets and phones no matter what the brand, lol. I find the Air to be a nice go between for storage, speed, and price. I am a little bias in this recommendation because I bought mine during BF thru The Exchange (Military) and they had great deals on them (better than Costco and no tax), but not everyone can get the deal.
bpr
I just checked The Exchange and they HAD (Sold Out) the current iPad Air for $299. Ouch. That is a heck of deal (wasn’t expecting that). Not sure if you can see it in the link. https://www.shopmyexchange.com/apple-ipad-air-109-in-64gb-with-wifi-latest-model--3167739/3167739 Best Buy has the 9th gen iPad for $199 if saving money is a need. The 10th gen is $299 (The Exchange has this for $229 as an example).

Lauriesaba
I just looked at BJ’s ad, they have the iPad 10th generation, 64gb for $269.99.
tinkrbel
I'm currently debating getting the larger 9th generation at target now with red card and birthday discount and/or getting a Costco membership and hoping their apple event staying 28 or 29th beats the price. Just ordered a 9th gen case from Amazon
