A week from tomorrow, I will be having my hip replaced. When you search for recovery stories, they are all over the place but I intend to be getting up and around by Black Friday! Admittedly, most of my shopping is done online, and I will happily rely on my son to go pick up any packages that get delivered to the post office instead of my front porch . BUT, I still go out on BF bright and early every year. If I have to swallow my pride and be seen using a walker in public, well, that's just what I'll have to do . Good luck! I hope it goes well and you have a quick recovery. 1
ilikefree Posted Tuesday at 06:29 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:29 PM Time sure is flying, I didn't realize I hadn't posted for September yet! School started about 2 1/2 weeks ago and just seems so different this year. We found out less than a week before the first day that the person we had issues with last year was moving to a different part of the school. Good, yes, but since we're "only" in the cafeteria, there was no rush to replace her. We're always the last thought when it comes to anything in the school. The new hire just started 3 days ago so we were working with our substitutes for 2+ weeks. She seems to be working out well, we'll see. I was promoted to head cook the beginning of last school year and it was a good year. Now this year, the kitchen manager (the same person as last year), has been giving not only me, but the other girls, attitude. I'm always second guessing myself when it comes to decisions because whatever I tell the girls to do, the manager always tells them to do the opposite. I'm always in tears, both in the walk-in cooler and at home. I've been working in the cafeteria 11 years (substituted for 7 years before that) and have always gotten along with her. My problem is that I can't speak my mind, I'm always afraid I'm going to offend someone or make things worse. If I say anything, then the attitude will really come out. The manager has been there not quite 30 years (thinking about retirement), I'm starting my 12th and then everyone else has been there less than 2-3 years. We just can't get people to stay and a lot of it is the manager, it's been said by many of the previous employees who had quit, because of her control issue. There's so much more I could go into but won't. I didn't mean to even get into it as much as I did. Anyway, Happy September!!! 1
Brad Posted Tuesday at 07:23 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 07:23 PM I'm going to start collecting addresses for your prizes. If you're one of the 40 still in the club, send me a message here on the forum with the title 'Prize Club Address' and include your name and full shipping address. I'll chase down whoever I don't hear from in a couple weeks. 1
rockpzazz Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago September has been normally a cruel month to me, so hopefully it will go well this year. Nice weather to start the month but the 90s return this weekend, so hopefully that will be quick and not very painful. At least unlike last year I have some gift cards saved up and a couple items to look for on Black Friday. Maybe a new tablet or a couple other items I've been on the hunt for this year.

I'm pretty sure I stood the test of time this year, but not great at keeping track

About 3 years ago my husband had his second hip replaced about this time of year. He was back to work by early November, and could have gone back sooner. I think he took 7 weeks off. He took 6 weeks off with his first replacement. He was definitely good to go, and in much less pain, with his new hip by Thanksgiving. So hopefully you have an easy and fast recovery!
