brynnfromtheblock
Does anyone else buy Dept 56 pieces for their village? If so where do you buy them? Is there anywhere that sells them at discount? Last year there was a thread to show a picture of your village we'll have to do that again this year!! Firemansgal311
I have a village collection. But it's not Dept. 56. I started with a 4 pc set my grandmother gave me and have added a new house or building and a person or accessory each year since.
brynnfromtheblock
I had the Joann's craft village and was very happy with it... I loved getting the pieces there because they would always have 75percent off and you could get houses for 5.00. My aunt collected dept 56 and I always thought "I would never spend the money", she started sending me a house a year and all of a sudden the houses were like half and half..now I'm kind of addicted... I wish she hadn't started it!!
Mommyof2
Ooooo, I love my Xmas village!! It has gotten so big in the past few years!! I don't own any of the Dept 56 things. I tend to get mine from Michaels or Walmart! Christmas is my all-time favorite holiday!!! I can't wait!

iluvdeals
I have a Dept 56 village - my mom got me hooked several years ago. If you check with smaller Hallmark or other card stores in January, you can get some good deals on them. Last year, we got my mom the Empire State Building at half off (before Christmas) because the lights didn't work properly. We had just visited NYC with her that summer so it had a lot of meaning behind it.
motoXmom
I don't get into a certain brand I guess you would say. I have an entire village from my parents, they built it with a kit from back in the early 50's. And each year we buy a couplemore pieces when the stores have them on clearance. Last year there was a thread to show a picture of your village we'll have to do that again this year!!If you have a Lenox Warehouse/Outlet store near you, you can check there because Dept 56 now owns Lenox. My dh works for Lenox and he was visiting the Lenox warehouse/outlet place in Cranbury NJ and he said that they had the Halloween villages there, so it is possible that they would have the Christmas one too. (I'm looking for the Halloween village!) My Christmas village is the Disney one from a couple years back. Good luck!

I am gonna start up again with them this year :) When DH comes home I want him to make a narrow display table for me to set up during the holiday's...need it made extra tall so the kidlets can't get their hands on it hehe. ms_mckenna
We have the one from Walmart that you paint yourself. The kids and DH and I have painted them over the years. Every year when they drop down to 1.00 or below we buy some more to add to our village.
carheel
i remember growing up and going to my grandmothers house, upstares she had a village set up. it was the old ones made out of cardboard, she had that from the 50s. it was the best, i remember the last time i was there in 1968 it was all yellow and falling apart. now she got the houses from the dollar tree. i was thinking of setting up a village this year, i dont want ot pay big bucks though. druffing
I have the North Pole series...lots of them! My dh had built a shelf with outlets for the houses-last year on black friday-yeah it has taken on a new meaning for me now-my house flooded massively. Moved back in in August but it is a total disaster here...and my houses are packed-they took a brunt of the flood-did not break...but wet...don't know if they light or not. They were so beautiful and flipping a switch was so cool... I also have the Precious Moments house village-in a curio in lr all the time...
