Smt218 Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Hi, First post here, sorry if this has been asked before. This is my 2nd time shopping on Black friday and recently a 24-hour walmart opened up near me. My question is, when can you start buying the friday deals at a 24 store? At midnight, or when the other walmart stores actually open on that friday, at i'm assuming, 6 a.m? Thanks
reportermomof3 Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 How it works here is that you may come into the store at any time, but the items that are on the Black Friday sale may not be put into your cart until 6 a.m. Security is positioned around the store to make sure of that. Also, the items are not where they normally would be. They are throughout the store and you have to figure out where they have put them. I'd get there at 4 a.m. if there is something you really want, so that you are near the beginning of the line for that item. It's also hard to get around with a cart. Go without one if at all possible. Good luck!
Ebayordeath Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I always arrive early at my 24 hour Supercenter just so I know where everything I want is. They have the items palletized and well shrink wrapped with an employee guarding each one. At 6am they start cutting the wrap and it is everyone for themselves. It is so much fun......
dmws61 Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 It is so much fun watching people grab the stuff they want and then they run to the check out so they can get to the next sale!
elena_398 Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 It so funny you said that. When Im in a checkout, I keep thinking about the next store Im going to hit and what I need!
Ebayordeath Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 It is hilarious, but I think the day after Christmas is even better, at least at my Wal-Mart. The crazy people here actually chuck the 50% off lights an ornaments throught the air to their waiting husbands. Every year the same people buying the same lights? I guess I am one of the few that actually take my lights down and save them to use again rather than throw them away??????
elena_398 Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Love the day after christmas sales too! I actually got several of my daughters gifts that day for this year! I got the crayola crayon maker at Kmart for only $3.98. They were $9.99 for BF at KB last year so Im glad I got that!

It is so much fun......The 24 hour walmart supercenters are even open on Thanksgiving day? I always assumed that they closed the night before Thanksgiving and re-opened on BF morning at 6:00. So if I go a little farther from my house I won't have to stand outside in the cold. This is good to know.
outnumbered Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I know I went to a Super Walmart the night before Thanksgiving one year...or, more like early on Thanksgiving. Something like 1 am, I was making pies and didn't have the right kind of canned milk and had to run out--they were open. So I guess they are open on Thanksgiving.
starshine Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 You are all so lucky my 24hrs WM CLOSES!!! you have to wait outside for them to reopen at 6. I was ticked last year when I got there. But it was a brand new store so maybe this year it will be open.
Bostonsweety Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 The walmart I went to last year had the stuff on pallets but nobody was watching them. We got there about 330am I got 2 bikes for my daughters and 2 dvd players we just walked around the store and got what we needed. The one thing they had a line for was the gamecube system we decided it wasnt worth it at that time and just went around and got the stuff we wanted there and got in line. We will probably go to the same walmart this year since it was so easy to get in and out of last year.
sahmnluvnit Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Our WMart closes at about 6-8pm the night before Thanksgiving and doesn't reopen until 6am on BF. I didn't realize any of them were open on Turkey Day
brynnfromtheblock Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Some of the Walmarts esp Supercenters in our area made you get in a specific line for each of the high ticket items. So if you wanted 2 of the big deals and were shopping alone you were SOL. We also have a normal Walmart in our area and there was way less people, no lines and the "grab of the pallet" method. I would definitely chose the smaller stores over the supercenters if possible.
