Guest qapla Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 ... to replace quite a bit of an outdoor fence and a gate. One's thoughts quickly turn to the big box stores like Lowes or Home Depot. But I'm just wondering if I'm overlooking other options?
mstacks Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Are you a member of Freecycle in your local area? I know several people who have given/received fencing from that list.
ms_mckenna Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 There are tons of 10 - 20 % off coupons for sale on Ebay. I bought some not to long ago they are a set of 4 coupons and no expiration paid 5.00 for 10 % off. Might be worth looking into. If you lived near me I would say give me a call my nephew works for a lumber yard and we get his discount lol.
Guest qapla Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 As for mstacks' and able's replies, I'm like: "Doh - why didn't *I* think of that??" Yes, I've been a Freecycle member for about 2 years now. I know eBay is mainstream these days, but I'm still a little eBay-phobic.Sorry, but I don't live in/near Texas. Anyway, all are excellent replies. Thanks muchly.
elena_398 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 There never is "sales" on treated lumber. (at home improvement stores). Wood fluctuates in price almost daily so it could be one price one day and another the next. (I used to work at Home depot). Just call around and if you get quoted a good price at home depot and lowes, get a printed quote. It keeps that price for you for several days. that way if it goes up then you have your price locked in. You have to go into the store though and get a printed quote and have the gals or guys at the service desk put it into the computer (that was my job lol)
