USC Becca Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 http://www.officedepot.com/pictures/SK/MD/999056_sk_md.jpg These would be great with the awesome BenQ DW1655 Dual Layer DVD±RW Writer - Black w/ LightScribe deal a number of us got in on a month or so ago. While that deal is now dead, GottaDeal shows sites offering it for as little as $41.99 shipped, see here This week, Office Depot is offering the Memorex DVD+R LightScribe Media, Pack Of 10 for really cheap - only $2.99 (with no rebate!), but ONLY in store, though apparently you can order online and choose in-store pickup to get the same price. Link to product online here Stores are apparently substituting with blister packs, a picture of one is here Enjoy! :)
Scott Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 If they are substituting the blister pack, then most likely you will get rev. 1.2. That is a HOT deal.
Scott Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I checked out the link, and it says $9.99. Do you only get that price in the B&M? I will have to check it out today.

USC Becca Posted August 16, 2006 Author Posted August 16, 2006 yup I think $2.99 was the price listed in the O.D. circular.
RossMAN Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 $2.99 out the door with no rebates, hot! and why are only Mods posting in this thread so far?
mrn8 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 That is a good price. I'll stop on my way home and hope they still have some. The lightscribe discs make good discs for photo slideshows and such.
RossMAN Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 We just got back from OD where they only had two of these left. $2.99 out the door and they are rev 1.2 :)

mrn8 Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I picked up the last 3 that mine had on the shelf. They are usually OOS on any decent deals, so I was surprised.
fairydustcrissy Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 ok, i am dumb with this kind of stuff. What are lightscribe discs? How are they different from regular DVD-R's? Just wondering if it is something I can use or not...

Just wondering if it is something I can use or not...You have to have a Lightscribe burner to be able to use them. They basically create an image on the front of the disc. They have a special coating on them to allow the burner to make the image. Basically it's a labeling system the is all done inside of your CV / DVD burner.

TY for the info! And is burning the top of the disc to prevent scratching damage etc?
Marcster Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 OK, so chances are thats not what ours is. TY for the info! And is burning the top of the disc to prevent scratching damage etc?You would "know" if you have a lightscribe DVD burner. It would say so on the DVD burner's faceplate (or on the sticker on the outside of your tower if it was came as part of your 'puter from the manufacturer). Lightscribing replaces the task of making a label. It allows you to do stuff like this: http://www.cdgrab.hu/_drive_hq/benq1625/LightScribe_sample_01_320x.jpghttp://www.imation.fr/images/products/lightscribe/ls_sample3.jpghttp://www.hhrf.org/magyarszo/arhiva/heti/2004/01jan/komputer/lscribe.jpg But, lightscribing takes a while (I think it's like 10 minutes, besides burning the "play" side of the DVD) and it's always going to be that tone-on-tone coloration (as opposed to the rainbow of colors that you can make with a color peel-and-stick label. To each their own.
fairydustcrissy Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Ahh, i see. Thanks so much for clearing that up for me Marc!
RossMAN Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Thanks for the visual Marc, that definitely helps :)
Scott Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Check out this post as well. It has an actual scan of a disc that I did when I first got my drive: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showpost.php?p=460990&postcount=13
