elena_398 Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 My son started his christmas list and not sure if I should buy it now OR wait closer to BF. Im not really sure what they are or what to look for. So if anyone has information and/or a good I-pod deal right now that would be great. If anything I can keep my money and wait, but will know what kind to buy later. Thanks for any help
Guest Frieked Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Well, if he wants the latest and greatest ipod it's currently the 60gb ipod w/video. Knowing apple they may come out with something new for the holiday season.
mrn8 Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Get him the Creative Zen Vision:M. Yeah, it's a bias, but it's a much more capable player and the only thing you "lose" is integration with iTunes. As for the iPod, I'd wait to see what Apple does. They haven't released a new full-sized player since last fall, so there could be something in the works for this holiday season.

We will have to see how hard Microsoft pushes it.
USC Becca Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 To start with I think you need more specifics. Is he looking for just music or video and other files as well? Does he want one of the really small ones? How much are you willing to spend? I think it is definitely worth waiting for now, but you still probably need some more info for later.
icanhabsum Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Apple is rumored to introduce a storage upgrade to the current generation of ipods since next generation video one is delayed, along w/ an aluminum version (think ipod mini w/ the diff colors) + storage bumps on the Nanos. For what rumors are worth...
elena_398 Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 My son wants a basic I guess as he wants to download music to it. He'll only be 12 so nothing too fancy. But, I would want one thats good quality even though he just wants to download music to it

But, I would want one thats good quality even though he just wants to download music to itHow much do you want to spend? It was asked earlier. MP3 players can run anywhere from $30 to $400 so it is quite the range. I believe that iPods start at around $150. Unless you want to get the shuffle which I do not reccomend.
sanam Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 amazon.com has 1gb ipod nano for 139.99 and 2gb for 184.all qualify for free shipping. i dont know if the prices might go down during BF.
elena_398 Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 Under $200 is best for us. Preferably the $100-$150 range. No more than $200. Thats what he wants for his big gift this year.

elena_398 Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 Any really. I just think he wants one as a few friends have one. He just said he wanted an I-pod so he could have all this downloaded music.

opigpogo Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 I would get a refurb iPod from Apple- they're up to $80 off! I've had a great experience with their refurbished macs in the past. Good Luck!!
elena_398 Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 Well my son now says he wants an iPod Nano black 2 GB. What is the best price around. Do I need to buy a docking station and/or a case? He definately wants black though

mrn8 Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Well my son now says he wants an iPod Nano black 2 GB. What is the best price around. Do I need to buy a docking station and/or a case? He definately wants black thoughThe only thing a docking station does for you that the cable that comes with it doesn't is stand the iPod up on the desk. I personally think it's a waste of money. I'd get him a case or armband to go with it, depending on how he'll use it.
jadedmomof2 Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Well, one nice thing about a docking station, if it's the right one, is that it has speakers so you can listen to your Ipod without the headphones. My husband uses his Ipod speakers/docking station for his Shuffle all the time.
elena_398 Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 What does refurbished mean exactly? does it mean it was broken at one point or its not new? Thanks for any insight. lol. Sorry if this is a dumb question
mrn8 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 What does refurbished mean exactly? does it mean it was broken at one point or its not new? Thanks for any insight. lol. Sorry if this is a dumb questionIt means that it was returned to Apple for some reason or another. Whatever the reason (broken, buyer's remorse...) Apple restores the product to new condition before selling and also gives you a full 1-year warranty on the iPod, just like it was new.
icanhabsum Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 you can also add an extended warranty or use a cc that doubles the warranty :)
RossMAN Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Refurb Apple iPod will give you the most bang for your buck and you can always buy an extended warranty.
elena_398 Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Well, my mom went to Circuit City today and she bought one there. Case and all. Her money, but I did tell her about the refurbished ones. It was advertised for $149, but came up at the register for $119. LOL. My mom paid her cash and got out of there just in case. She got one heck of a deal. (iPod Nano 2GB black)
Ferg1221 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Good deal, I`m trying to figure which one for my 12 Yr. old as well.
