bluebear Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 So, we are under 10 days to Christmas now. How are we doing? Are you spending the rest if the time in bliss sipping hot cocoa and watching the lights? Or are you still in the list making stage? Lists finished?Purchases made?Purchases received? Gifts wrapped? Baking/candy making planned or started? Let's stress together!
bluebear Posted December 16, 2021 Author Posted December 16, 2021 I'm actually in fairly good shape I think for once! I still would like to find 2 people "one more thing", but not a big deal if not. Other than that, all gifts are planned. For purchases, I need to buy 4 or 5 more gift cards. And 1 more gift that I can't make a decision on, because it's something I know nothing about and I'm afraid I'm not getting the right thing. But that needs to get ordered today or tomorrow no matter what. It can be exchanged if needed. I placed a couple of orders this week, so I'm waiting on 6 deliveries, plus the one still to be ordered. They are all expected by Monday though, so I should be okay. And if not, they are mostly sheets and bedding, so that will be fine. I am actually doing pretty great on wrapping for a change! Everything is wrapped except for my daughter's family, which I hope to make progress on today. Their gifts get taken to them, so I usually don't put them under my tree. And so I put those off til last. I am using my son's room for storing and wrapping, but he's coming home from school Monday, so I need to get that all "wrapped up" and cleaned up! I haven't much planned my baking or candy making. I always make buckeyes, So I have everything for that. I need to start that tomorrow. And I have ingredients for basic sugar and chocolate chip cookies, plus cool whip cookies. I'd like to do fudge and maybe marshmallows, but we'll see. We usually have the week before Christmas off, but this year we work through Wednesday, so I'll have only Thursday to bake. If I don't go to my daughter's that day. If so... then I guess I'm baking Christmas eve!
magickallight Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I am in the UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG stage! Lists finished? Not sure - deciding as I wrap.Purchases made? Not sure - deciding as I wrap.Purchases received? Still have some on the way and one that has been lost since Nov. 30th. Gifts wrapped? Just getting started - I have NEVER been this far behind!Baking/candy making planned or started? Planned - but NOT looking like I will get to them this year. *My mom has developed Alzheimer's and I am having to take care of her day and night - it has my energy, holiday spirit and time frames totally thrown off. 3

speeddiva Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Nothing is ready, nothing is baked, nothing is wrapped. I finally got a tree up over the weekend. My dog fell in November and ruptured a disk so most of my focus (and money)has been on getting him to walk again. Christmas is an afterthought at this point. Thankfully, everyone is an adult so I’m not seriously disappointing anyone. 2
HanShotFirst Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 After one last purchase last weekend, I am done and done and done. My shopping list is completed, all gifts are wrapped and under the tree. I was after the dreaded "one more thing" last weekend and lucked out at the first store I went to, I don't bake for Christmas since I am never at my house but always at my parents' so she does all the baking, although we've cut back severely this year. 1
budgetsRsexy Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Presents - I need to pick up a nice bottle of wine for my one boss and I’m still trying to figure out something for the other boss. I have one package I’m waiting for but it’s just for me and not a gift so if it doesn’t arrive before we head out of town it’s no bid deal. I do have to return 2 items to Kohl’s but it can wait until after the holidays if need be. Wrapping - I will do all my wrapping once we get to my in-laws so it doesn’t get damaged/ruined in the trunk of the car. It should be easy as I’m only doing gift bags this year. And I’ll bring them with me so I don’t have to run any errands while out of town. Baking - if I feel ambitious then I’ll make a loaf of pumpkin break when I get to Virginia but other than that all the baking will be done by my mother-in-law. Decorating - I still need to decorate my tree. That’s on the agenda for Saturday. 1
tracy0504 Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Presents - I have a few left to get... gift cards, candles, Power Ranger comic books on Amazon that my son just asked for last night (at 28 yrs old)... Wrapping - Haven't even started... mostly the gifts for my grandson need wrapping and since he is 4 I'm sure he would enjoy ripping them open instead of taking them out of gift bags. Baking - Huhhhhh, again, haven't started... My mom lives in NC and usually bakes and ships my kids their own batch of cookies each in cute tins, but money is tight for everyone this year so I told her to give me the recipe and I would make them this year... And I still have to get the tins for said cookies... The ones from the Dollar (Twenty-Five) Tree aren't quite big enough for the amount of cookies that bake up from the recipe. Decorating - It's as good as it's going to get this year... trees up, lit, decorated... 2
Bopeep Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 Today is wrap day, then I'm done. Then I will wait impatiently all week for my kids to get here next Saturday to open presents. It's going to be a long week. 2
bluebear Posted December 18, 2021 Author Posted December 18, 2021 I finished all my wrapping last night, woohoo! Earliest I've ever been done. The 2 or 3 things I'm still waiting in can be wrapped quickly when they come in, and I can go ahead and start clearing out my son's room. Today I need to start the buckeyes. My recipe makes about 14 dozen, so it takes me a couple days to get them all done. 1

Now my fingers are crossed that it will be delivered by Monday (my last day in the office is Tuesday). Grabbed the wine for my other boss this morning.Assembled and fluffed the tree but one of the strands of lights is not working. My husband promised he would fix that for me tomorrow morning before he goes out for his run before I wake up so I hope to get it decorated first thing 1

budgetsRsexy Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 I got my tree decorated on Sunday. My last gift shipment arrived on Sunday too. The gifts for my bosses were delivered on Tuesday and I have safely made the 9+ hour drive to my in-laws in Virginia where I will be celebrating Christmas. I will wrap the kid/pet gifts tomorrow and then I’m officially done. Now I’m just stressing about our rescue dog and doing my best to insure that she doesn’t eat my mother-in-law’s cat, though the cat might be suicidal considering the amount of taunting it does to try to aggravate the dog [emoji849] 1
lucyismycat Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Most everything is purchased - debating one more gc for DM and probably going to the mall today for some bath stuff for DMIL. I need to figure out what tickets to which show I want to get for DMIL, but that’s just something I can print before we head over to their house Saturday. The boys say they want to go to the mall with me to see just how nuts people are LOL I think they will be disappointed with the lack of crazy. Almost everything is wrapped. I forgot about a book that I got for DS10 that is still in the Amazon package. I will wrap that one after he goes to bed tonight, and maybe the telescope we got him. That box is huge, though, and there’s no hiding it since it has the brand all over the outside of the box. I may just bring it in Saturday morning while we are opening gifts. No baking this year - nobody eats sweets in our house anymore, and I hate to waste them. I will make some bread for our Christmas dinner on Saturday, though. I didn’t decorate much inside this year, either. Just one tree is up, and it’s been finished for weeks. I usually go wayyyyy overboard, and honestly, it’s been kind of nice to just keep things low key this year. Maybe next year I’ll go crazy again but for right now I’m enjoying just this one. Tonight we are skipping hockey practice and will go drive around to look at light displays and maybe catch a late movie. 1
