stevierocks
sometimes we never know how appreciated a gift is.. until recently i would have said a calendar and on every month i taped a gift card.. BUT ...that changed .....i recently was talking to a woman who did not expect to win her latest battle against cancer. she sent a picture of a plant i brought her when she was in the VA hospital and i went to see her. She still has the plant and it has beautiful flowers. she expressed to someone how much that plant meant to her, through out all of her treatments. She mentioned that it is now called her peace plant. as she stated so many times that looking at the plant brought peace to her .. THAT is now the best gift i ever gave!

tracy0504
One year, a friend of mine told me about the calendar she makes for her mother when Shutterfly offers a free calendar (week or so before BF, only pay for shipping)... So I decided to make my mom one and every year her request is that calendar with the grands and great grands and her preference of of a wall calendar instead of a desk one... Since I'm only paying shipping it seems like a very inexpensive gift, but she loves it and saves each one and has pictures to look at as the grands grow... I usually have it shipped directly to her so she gets it way before Christmas, but her birthday is the week of Thanksgiving every year so it's a birthday/early Christmas gift [emoji2960]
speeddiva
My husband grew up on a farm. One year we took a few old boards and some barbed wire we found in the barn and made shadow boxes for his Mom and siblings. Another year, we digitized all the family slides and printed them in photo books. That was a huge job but they all loved it.
stevierocks
Now that is beautiful...even more interesting.. i didnt intend to buy her the plant.. i wasnt even planning to visit that day... but the gps brought us the wrong way and we ended up in the area.. so i called her and she had no clue i was close or would be coming.. and she mentioned wanting chocolate cake.. SOOOO we went to the store to buy her a piece of chocolate cake.. and something about the plant(not to mention it was marked on a great sale, and had no sign of flowers growing, nor did i know it even could grow flowers).. caught my eye .. so we bought it , along with a whole cake ...
