Scott
hmmm... I almost pulled the trigger on the 2GB drive, and now this. I like that this one is retractable, so no cap to lose. Decisions decisions... A great price on 4GB
schroedogg
I wouldn't recommend the retractable kind. I have a Sandisk like this (512 meg model) and after several months of usage, it would no longer hold itself in the "OUT" position. So to plug into a USB port I have to hold down really hard on the slider lever so that pushing into the slot doesn't cause the end to retract. I wonder if they have improved that with this model?
schroedogg
That's a good question. It's possible since I purchased mine almost 2 years ago now. On the other hand, any time there's some sort of plastic latching mechanism, it's bound to wear out. Of course, with caps, they are usually bound to get a little loose over time as well. I did purchase a 1-Gig A-Data thumbdrive a while back and really like it - it's very small, though it does have a cap, but in its many uses I haven't notice the cap getting any looser. I once saw a thumbdrive that swivels. That is, the cap basically covers the whole drive and then rotates out of the way to expose the USB port. Thought that was kind of neat, though I forget what brand/model it was.

I think that I've lost every cap I've ever had, so that does me no good either. :)
