shopping4my3son
Where is the best place to get retired Lego sets? Ebay range is from $250-$400 and Amazon is $400. I just don't trust Ebay much and worry it wouldn't arrive in time for Christmas. Just suck it up and pay $400 on Amazon and know I have it on time???? bpr
Not much choice. It also might depend on how long it has been retired. I got the Café Corner in a Lego shop. I bought it over the phone and paid retail + shipping. Great investment of $150 because sold it 3 years later for $1000. What set are you looking for? bpr
You picked a doozy, lol. If it's on Amazon and you want it before Christmas, you are paying $379, lol. You could give an IOU and try to win it. Email the seller on Ebay and see if he will end the auction early and offer a price win expedited shipping. They might do it if they are trying to unload it for some quick cash. Edited December 18, 2014 by bpr
shopping4my3son
Ended up buying it on Ebay. $344 with expedited shipping. That's not the only gift showing up on Christmas Eve. lol The rest of the gift is tickets to the real Robie House in Chicago and a hotel stay that weekend. All I had to do for that part was some clicking, printing, then done.
bpr
I did something similar, but not for Christmas. We went to Paris and London last year and I ended up buying the Eiffel Tower (the big set $$$) and the Tower Bridge. It's cool to make the connection. Sounds like you made a good deal. Enjoy your trip and building your set( if you decide to).
