noehlp Posted January 24, 2006 Author Posted January 24, 2006 Now, for all you that know how to Scrapbook. How hard is it to learn? Should I jump on this bandwagon? Thanks!
cjs9473 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I would say definitely try out scrapbooking (especially for this price!) I used to be a Creative Memories consultant, and when I did classes, newcomers would say that they weren't creative enough, and by the time they left they were so proud of the pages they made. My family loves to show off the scrapbooks I made for them, and my daughters now love to scrap themselves!
Steakgoddess Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I am a Creative Memories consultant. I say go for it. Try your hand. It is all about keeping your photos AND the stories behind them preserved!!
*sparkles* Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 great deals. beware scrapbooking is soooo addicting. I say give it a shot. you can always get a lot of great ideas online to get you started.
aintstupid Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Wow! Time to dig out my wedding pictures.....lol
pinkroses4mommy Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I have been scrapbooking just since Christmas and I love it. I buy stuff from Michael's and Hobby Lobby when it is on sale for 50% off, and have even found some good stuff at Dollar Tree and Dollar General! I just did 4 pages tonight!
smangham Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Now, for all you that know how to Scrapbook. How hard is it to learn?Should I jump on this bandwagon? Thanks! Warning! Scrapbooking is HIGHLY addictive.A friend of mine started showing me her books about 6 years ago when our daughters were starting cheerleading in junior high. She got me to go to a Creative Memories show. My first reaction was "these women are crazy for spending this much money on scrapbook pages"! Fast forward to today.....I have an entire cabinet full of papers, stickers, tools and books. I've completed about 12 books....with no end in sight. You will really enjoy it. Side note, though....and NO offense to the Creative Memories consultants out there.....but once you get the hang of it, you can do them for A LOT less expensive, and just as wonderful, if you will go the Hobby Lobby or Michaels route. Walmart even carries some items now. Thanks for this post! What a great Deal!!!
Guest Deals4Me Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 K17008 - Template & Punch Kit w/Punching Tool & PadNOW $5.97 Was $19.99 Retail $40.00Shipping & handling: $2.99 Features:# 18 Different Shapes# 3 Different Boarders# Distinctive Shapes# Self-Healing Cutting Mat# Textured handle for easy grippingI gotta say the self healing mat on this one alone is usually nearly 10 bucks in store... so this is A REALLY great deal...
jeninpa Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 I got 2 of those predesigned scrapbooks and there just isn't enough pages or topics for every picture I want to put in! So now I want to try these. Thanks!

You get what you pay for. Not saying that you can't get AWESOME deals on clearanced stuff like this. ANd I can not attest tot he quality because I don't know. Now, there are papers and other things out there that are just as if not more expensive than a LOT of the CM stuff. Have you seen the pages in some of these Magazines that cost over $20 a page? COme on!Now, there are alos a lot of good quality items that CM does not offer (brads, fibers, twill, metals) that I do buy and I do use in my albums.I don;t care what anyone says, CM albums rock my socks. They are by far the best quality out there and they come with a lifetime guarantee. AND you don't have to use CM pages in the albums. You can use a brand of page protectors called Pioneer and still top load into your albums. That is what I do and I am INTO scrapbooking. Right now I have 16 albums completed (using whatever I want to in my albums, not just CM products) and am plannignon tons more.

Rockfordmom Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 The 2 scrapbook kits are both really nice because they both have EVERYTHING that you would need to complete each scrapbook and it all matches and everything goes together which makes it much easier and you can't beat the price, if you had to buy everything separately you would spend a lot more. If you got both of those you would be able to do 2 scrapbooks and probably have a lot of the stickers... left over. And they both have idea guides and that will surely get your creative juices flowing, also Michaels.com has a lot of good page ideas too & a couple of times a year they have free scrapbooking events that will show you the new tools adn techniques that are out there. The Template & Punch Kit w/Punching Tool & Pad is also pretty neat.Hope this helps! And I agree that Creative Memories has a lot of neat things but you can get them much cheaper when Hobby Lobby has their 50% off scrapbooking sales and Joanne Fabrics has the stuff on sale and Michaels has sales and their 40% off coupons and Walmart carries a lot of scrapbooking stuff now. And the quality is just as good as Creative Memories just not as expensive.
Gporter34 Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Scrapbooking is definitely addictive!LOL I have three started now for my oldest three kids and when the younger two get to junior high, I will start their's!

jeninpa Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Too bad someone can't come up with a code....it is a great deal but I'm just always wanting that little bit extra off now that I've been coming to gottadeal.com. It just doesn't feel right buying something without entering a code!
Guest Deals4Me Posted January 24, 2006 Posted January 24, 2006 Didn't mean to get your knickers in a bunch! It's just scrapbooking....not Scientology.omg...that s so darn funny@
jeninpa Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 I am soooo mad at these people! They said my security code didn't match my card # when I tried to order online ,then I called them and they tried it and it didn't work so they gave me another # and they couldn't get it to work either so they were going to give me another # to call but I just used another card instead. They didn't even offer me anything for all the trouble I had to go through and the total of 1 1/2 hrs on the phone......but this was a great deal, lol. Hopefully none of you have to go through this. And it was just a Mastercard incase you were wondering!
noehlp Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 My results are in, here is what I bought: VINTAGE COLLECTION SCRAPBOOK KIT TEMPLATE AND PUNCH KIT ALBUM & REFILL KIT When it all arrives, be prepared for my questions, as all I know about scrapbooking is you have lovely books with pages w/pictures and quotes. How to do that and have it look presentable, I am lost there. Thanks all for the suggestions on getting it. Oh, 3 more question. I think some people use special cutting scissors, like the ones that cut zig-zag or curvy. Do you use these? Where is a good place to buy them? And what type of price range are we talking? Though I will have to wait a few weeks before I spend anymore on my luxury budget. :)

Even they have a scrapbook section now. They have some pretty decent stuff in it (I have a friend that scrapbooks). You should check it out.
jeninpa Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 My results are in, here is what I bought: VINTAGE COLLECTION SCRAPBOOK KIT TEMPLATE AND PUNCH KIT ALBUM & REFILL KIT Oh, 3 more question. I think some people use special cutting scissors, like the ones that cut zig-zag or curvy. Do you use these? Where is a good place to buy them? You bought the one kit that I bought, the templates and from the whole 1 hr of experience I have with scrapbooking I assumed that you could use the outside of the templates to cut fancy edges around your pics. It comes with the blade also! As far as designing we could probably all look up some neat layout ideas on the internet and I know I seen some really neat books with tons of ideas in them at AC Moore (my favorite place!).

Sometimes Michaels has them on sale and if you live near a Michaels store you should check their schedule for a scrapbook day/event, that's how I got started. The store by my house has something on Feb. 26 (it does cost $10 but sometimes they have free ones). They also have a couple nights a month where you can go there & bring your own paper & pictures & stickers and use all their supplies for $5 (paper cutters & punches...). I do it once in a while because you can try the tools before you buy them (or use them because you don't have them) and it's nice to get out of the house without any kids for 4 hours and work on my scrapbook pages uninterrupted! I also get ideas just from looking at the scrapbook section and all the different papers at the craft stores. And it's really easy to go overboard on buying all the stuff but it isn't necessary. I started with a clearance scrapbook album (under $5), some papers, stickers, regular scissors and my kids glue stick and it turned out pretty nice! If you look at the ideas that come with the kit that will also get you started. I'm pretty sure that I've seen those scissors at Walmart & Target and all craft stores carry them. And don't forget the dollar store, the one by my house has some pretty neat stickers (and they are the same brands that the craft stores sell and are acid free whatever that means) for only a dollar.

I got some awesome stickers there for a scrapbook I'm doing for my niece. (I don't really know how to scrapbook though. I mean, I have the general idea, but yeah, this should be interesting LOL.) I wish I could get one of these kits, but I have no credit card, sooo..maybe next time. :)
noehlp Posted February 1, 2006 Author Posted February 1, 2006 WOWSER!I got my order today(recap) VINTAGE COLLECTION SCRAPBOOK KIT - TEMPLATE AND PUNCH KIT - ALBUM & REFILL KIT The album kit is just that, WOWSER! Very sturdy and gorgeous box to hold everything in. The scrapbook and the supplies in the kit are high quality.Heck, everything I got is very high quality, better than Wal-Mart. Tonight I organized my big box of photos, I seperated them in small boxes - 1 for each kid, then 1 box for all 3 kids in the pics, 1 for 2 kids, and 1 for family (all of us), and 1 for other family members/friends. I was thinking about doing a hopefully easy page or two or three. Primarily their school pictures on them. I was thinking putting a colorful border around each picture, then under the pic write the grade and maybe class teachers name. Then put some cool saying stickers on there. Oh, and I do want to get some special paper at Target I saw the one I want. What do you all think? Good Idea/Bad Idea/Could change a bit????
