laffnatu
Tryhttp://recordedbooks.com It says that the first month is free, but then it's $29.99 a month there after. I buy practically all my audiobooks from ebay. I also check at the Goodwill and Thrift stores. I haven't tried d/ling a audiobook to a mp3 player, but I bought one for my hubby for Christmas. He's overseas and said that they can d/l them for free some place. I'll ask him if it is something that is for public use, or something just for the military there. When I bought the mp3 player, the guy at WM told me that you need at least a 1mb (i think that's right) to even store 1 book. But I don't know how accurate his information is, I haven't checked into it. I hope this helps. :)

mrn8
www.projectgutenberg.com has a selection of free classic books that have been recorded to audio. I got the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Edgar Allan Poe from them.
taranomics
Thanks everyone! I did use the sandisk/audible free audiobooks already. I went to my local libary and took out some books on cd's. Now I just got to figure out how to get them in my comp. and into my mp3 player . Some of the books have more than 10 cds!!! laffnatu
I found a lady on ebay who made her mp3s. We started talking and she has made several for me now. She doesn't sell them on ebay, she just buys audiobooks and usually ends up transferring them from cd or tape to mp3 cds. http://www.dak.com/reviews/2020storyt.cfm?Ref=G&PM=CACD&type=GSrch&Srh=tapes_to_mp3 This is the link to the thing that she bought to do this with. I've never gotten around to ordering me one yet, but she said it's easy to do. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for though.
