I went to TRU yesterday. On a display they had Fantastic Four toys with a sign that said 50% off, my son seen a toy and said he wanted it, so I said ok because it was half price. When I get up to the register it rang up regular price, so I asked the cashier isn't that supposed to be 50% off, of course she didn't know and called someone over to help out. I got my ad out and showed them it. He went over to customer service and when he came back he told me it was not included. I asked why it was on the display then and never got an answer. The ad stated that all Fantastic Four action figures, action figure accessories, and all role-play toys were 50% off. The toy I had was where each kids wears a belt buckle like thing and each kid has a gun type toy with Dr Doom on one and Human Torch on the other and they shoot each other and the belt buckle makes noise and lights up if you got shot(like lazer tag). Anyway I think that sounds like role-play. What do you all think? I was really pissed off about it and said so and left.

Go back and get the discount. That is role-playing for sure. Smile a little more and demand the price advertised. They probably fixed/changed the display but they should remember you. See the store manager and, if necessary, ask for the regional manager.

Yes, definitely go back there and right then and there when you were there the first time you should have requested to see the store manager or manager on duty (if they use the age old excuse "the manager's not in today"). Explain to him/her that the toy was in the display marked 50% off, they are obligated to give you the price listed. If it's their mistake, too bad. If they give you a hard time, ask for the district managers name and contact information and contact the corporate offices in wayne, nj. I don't think you'll have to go that far but in case you do, go in prepared to go further with it.

I was going to go over to the customer service desk before I left and demand to know why it was not considered role-play, but I was pretty angry and I had all my kids with me plus my nephew and I had my father coming over for left overs and was in a hurry. I will probably head back there before the sale ends and speak to a manager. I wanted to know what you all thought about the toy. My older kids said it's role-play, but I wanted more opinons. Thanks for your replys.

TRU is not the best. I called ahead to ask if they had a certain board game in stock. I was told that yes they had it. I made the drive over and guess what? They didn't have it in. I went to customer service to ask if they had any in the back and of course not. This game just so happened to be on sale. I asked for a rain check, they had to call a manager because they didn't know if they could issue one. They finally told me okay I could have a rain check since I called and was told that they had it. I was so annoyed.

I just recently had a similar problem with the mega block sale. The sign clearly said B1G1 on ALL mega blocks. Well, the wagons I picked up were ringing up full price and 1/2 price on the second. I took the service desk girl over to the sign and she read the same thing I did and got mad and said the wagons were not included. I asked her to show me where she got that information and she could not tell me. I then asked for the manager (who never came) and the girl at the desk adjusted the price for me and another group of people who were mad that they were charged incorrectly. The girl behind the desk still insisted that the items were not included in the sale even though the sale sign clearly stated ALL mega blocks. TRU is not the greatest with customer service.

I've always told people when shopping at TRU really watch the register on how things get rung up. I had similar situations throughout the last few years. They always end up fixing it, but I can only imagine the people who don't realize it.

I had a similar problem. The manager was no help. I even called the 800# and they wouldn't do anything about it. I still shop there once in a while but I'm not surprised when my purchase rings up wrong.

I had some ting like that happen during the Little Tykes Spend $20, get a toy free sale. The ad said it would take off the price of the toy $20 or the closest to $20. Well, i had a toy that was 19.99, but she tried taking off the 4.99 toy. Not gonna happen, they argued with me, I showed them the ad, the sign on the shelf, everything. When I told them they could keep the buggy full of toys, suddenly they agreed with me! I am always very careful at TRU.

UGHHH I had the same thing happen to me with the same darn toy!!! DS LOVES fantastic 4 and he had a $25 gc for Christmas that was the first thing he picked up that and was pretty excited since it wasn't the human torch set with the little torpedos. Went over to scan it to see if it was indeed the $29.99 the shelf said and it rang up 31.49! I asked someone and they said pretty much nothing but its not on sale. Then DH went into the game zone and saw that Grand Tourismo 4 was in the sale circular AND in the sale area. So he grabbed it all excited. Asked the girl doing the markdowns how much she scans it and says $49.99. WHich is the regular price. So they quickly took it from DH and the rest off the shelf along with the new Dora game and pretty much said oh well no manager here tonight.

I am NOT happy with TRU!

My wife and I avoid TRU at all costs. Frankly they don't have anything that Target or Walmart don't have except for a TRU 'exclusive' here and there and we find their customer service to be poor. Our store never has enough register people so lines are long no matter what time you go in.

I had this happen to me once with the fisher price loving family sets that said all accessories buy one get one. I went on to get those camper sets with the boat and since they were 29 or 39 the lady said uh... maam I am sorry these aren't in the promo..then got an ugly tone when I said yes they are accessories everything back there except the house is an accessory. long story short she said it won't work. I told her to scan them then the coupon if it wasn't part of the promo it wouldn't work . Needless to say she gave me a GTH look when I was right and just for spite I walked straight back and bought two more. lol.

My TRU nightmare was about 4 years ago when the cashier forgot to/or we forgot to pick up one of our piad bags of BF toys. We had a busy day of shopping & didn't realize the items were missing for more than a week when we went to wrap. Went back to the store with the receipt-they said sorry, nothing was turned in & they also wouldn't let us replace. Only been back a couple of times since.
